Equality Act

The Equality Act is an important civil rights bill that was recently passed in the US House of Representatives. It amends the 1964 Civil Rights Act to add sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes along with race, religion, sex and national origin. The proposed legislation may face hurdles at the Senate, where the Democrats will require 60 votes to pass this Bill. It has received backing from President Biden.
