Dickinsonia

Dickinsonia is an extinct early organism that appears like a blob with ridges inside. Fossils of this extinct organism have been found in Ukraine, Russia, China and Australia. For the first time, a Dickinsonia fossil was discovered at India’s Bhimbetka rock shelters. This is a 550 million year old fossil- i.e. it would help determine the age of the ancient basins in Central India. The discovery was made during a Geological Survey of India-led visit to the caves as a part of the International geological Congress.
