Didymocarpus vickifunkiae

Didymocarpus vickifunkiae is a new species of plant belonging to the African violet family. It was recently discovered in Mizoram and nearby areas in Myanmar. It is an endangered species found only in 3 locations in the northeastern state. The species is named in honour of an eminent Botanist Dr Vicki Ann Funk. It is an epiphyte – a plant that grows on another plant, which is often not parasitic. Its pink flowers bloom during the monsoons.
