Department of Posts Releases Satish Gujral Commemorative Stamp

The Department of Posts released a commemorative postage stamp on 3 August 2026 to mark the birth centenary of Satish Gujral, an Indian artist, sculptor, and architect. The stamp was unveiled at Bikaner House in New Delhi by Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.

Satish Gujral and His Artistic Profile

Satish Gujral was born on 25 December 1925 and is known for work across painting, sculpture, mural art, and architecture. He belonged to the generation of Indian modern artists who worked in multiple media during the 20th century.

Design Features of the Commemorative Stamp

The stamp carries a 2010 acrylic-on-canvas self-portrait of Satish Gujral, in which he is shown seated with a paintbrush. The self-portrait is counted among only four such works created by Gujral during his lifetime. The stamp design was prepared by Anuj Kumar and was based on a proposal submitted by Raseel Gujral Ansal, who is the daughter of Satish Gujral and co-founder of Raseel Gujral Art Legacy (RGAL).

Collectibles and Exhibition Details

The launch was linked with an exhibition at Bikaner House, where limited-edition commemorative stamp collectibles are scheduled for display from 4 August to 9 August 2026. Two collectible sets have been issued with the stamp, including a set of 25 stamps and a Centenary Master Edition with 100 stamps.
