Notes:
The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021 has been framed recently, which was released by the Electronics and IT Ministry.
Under the rules, platforms such as WhatsApp will have to provide information on identity verification to the authorised agencies within 72 hours. The originator of unlawful messages would be zeroed on and the platforms will have to set up grievance redressal mechanism.

Notes:
As per the recent statement of the Indian Army chief General M M Naravane, the Indian Army is set to start using a messaging platform called SAI (Secure Application for Internet), for internal communications.
The application, which was developed by Colonel Sai Shankar, is undergoing the process of obtaining cybersecurity clearance and data testing. After getting clearance, the platform will be used from April 1, this year.

A Nidhi company is classified as “Mutual Benefit Financial Company” by the Reserve Bank of India. It is regulated by the Department of Corporate Affairs for its operational matters and the deployment of funds. RBI can issue directions to the companies on its deposit taking activities.
Recently, the Corporate Affairs Ministry warned that investors must check the status of the Nidhi company before investing.

The Central Government has recently specified 5 million (50 lakh) registered users in India as the threshold for a social media intermediary to be defined a significant social media intermediary.
The term of ‘Significant Social Media intermediary’ is mentioned in the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021.

Madhya Pradesh approved a law to give life imprisonment to food adulterators, with the cabinet recently approving a Penal Law (Madhya Pradesh Amendment) Bill, 2021.
In 2019, a massive rally was organised in the state against food adulteration, with the participation of several citizens of all age groups.

The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has finalised the list of products to be covered under One District One Focus Product (ODOFP).
This list has been prepared in consultation with the Union Ministry of Food Processing and Industries for 728 districts across the country. The identified products belong to agricultural, horticultural, animal, poultry, milk, fisheries and aquaculture, marine sectors.

The Chief Minister of Karnataka B.S. Yediyurappa has recently launched the ‘Namma Cargo’ service in the state.
Under this initiative, the state road transport corporation buses would carry cargo parcels to generate additional revenue to the state. This is being implemented in 109 bus stations in Karnataka and select locations of neighbouring states.

Indian boxer Deepak Kumar has won the silver medal at the 72nd Strandja Memorial Tournament, recently held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Deepak Kumar was a silver medal winner of the Asian Games, and a former India Open gold-medallist.

The leading computer manufacturer HP, has made its first ever personal computer using plastic found in oceans.
The company’s Pavilion 13, Pavilion 14, and Pavilion 15 series of laptops have been manufactured using ocean plastic wastes materials. The company estimates that nearly 92,000 plastic bottles are pulled out of the oceans to manufacture these computers

Notes:
Titanosaur is a group of long-necked plant-eating dinosaurs that walked on four legs. Scientists have recently discovered the fossils of a dinosaur species named ‘Ninjatitan zapatai’ which lived 140 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period.
The fossils which have been unearthed, is said to be the oldest-known member of the dinosaur group known as titanosaurs.
