China beetle

China beetle (aristobia reticulator) or Chinese stem borer beetle is a regular pest of litchi and longan trees in China and Myanmar. This pest was first discovered in India in 1997 in Meghalaya, attacking guava trees in the northeastern state. A recent study found that it has spread to aonla or Indian gooseberry trees in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. It is predicted that this beetle might spread to other states like Bihar, UP, Jharkhand etc., that are cultivating aonla and litchi.
