The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti organised a national workshop in New Delhi on 20 August 2026 for capacity-building under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. The workshop was titled “Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on Capacity Building under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 for GPs, VWSCs and Sujalam Shakti Groups”.
Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0
Jal Jeevan Mission is a Government of India programme for rural drinking water supply. The mission works through village-level institutions, including Gram Panchayats and Village Water and Sanitation Committees, for planning, operation, and local management of water supply systems.
Training Modules and Field Functionaries
Participants reviewed the content, pedagogy, and field applicability of training modules prepared for field-level functionaries. The modules covered Gram Panchayat representatives and other local stakeholders involved in rural water supply management.
Priority Areas in Capacity-Building
The identified training areas included source sustainability, water quality monitoring, operation and maintenance, financial management, and community participation. These subjects form part of rural water, sanitation, and hygiene, commonly abbreviated as WASH.
