Centre Approves Pulses and Oilseeds Procurement Under PSS
The Union Agriculture Ministry approved large-scale procurement of pulses and oilseeds at Minimum Support Price (MSP) under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana on 18 and 19 June 2026. The procurement covers moong, urad, and groundnut for the Summer 2026 season and the Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2025-26.
Price Support Scheme and MSP
The Price Support Scheme is a central procurement mechanism for notified agricultural commodities when market prices fall below MSP. Minimum Support Price is a government-fixed price for selected crops, and it is announced for both kharif and rabi seasons in India.
State-wise Procurement Approval
Uttar Pradesh received approval for 48,298 metric tonnes of moong, 97,970 metric tonnes of urad, and 41,718 metric tonnes of groundnut for Summer 2026. The total MSP value for Uttar Pradesh exceeds ₹1,490 crore. Gujarat received approval for 18,250 metric tonnes of moong for Summer 2026, with an MSP value exceeding ₹160 crore. Haryana received approval for 2,115 metric tonnes of moong for Summer 2026, with an MSP value exceeding ₹18 crore. In Tamil Nadu, the moong procurement limit for RMS 2025-26 increased from 885 metric tonnes to 990 metric tonnes. The additional 105 metric tonnes has an MSP value of ₹8.68 crore.

Moong is a pulse crop, urad is black gram, and groundnut is an oilseed crop. Summer 2026 procurement and RMS 2025-26 procurement fall under different seasonal marketing windows used in India’s agricultural procurement system.
