Bihar Launches Mukhya Mantri Pratigya Scheme

The Bihar government has recently introduced the ‘Mukhya Mantri Pratigya’ scheme. This initiative aims to support youths in securing internships following their Class 12 board examinations. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar led the Cabinet meeting where this decision was approved. The scheme intends to combat youth unemployment and enhance the readiness of students for the industry.

Overview of the Scheme

The ‘Mukhya Mantri Pratigya’ scheme targets youths aged between 18 and 28. Eligible participants include those who have completed skill development training or hold diplomas from Industrial Training Institutes. The scheme provides financial assistance for internships lasting from three to twelve months.

Financial Support Details

Youths who have passed their higher secondary exams will receive Rs 4,000 per month. ITI diploma holders will get Rs 5,000 per month. Graduates and postgraduates will be awarded Rs 6,000 per month. Additionally, those interning outside their home districts receive an extra Rs 2,000 per month. Interns working out of state will receive an additional Rs 5,000 monthly for a maximum of three months.

Payment Process

Payments will be directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts. A committee has been established to oversee the scheme. The Development Commissioner will lead this committee, which includes industry representatives.

Other Related Initiatives

The Cabinet also approved several other initiatives. The ‘Mukhya Mantri Kalakar Pension Yojana’ will provide Rs 3,000 monthly pensions to artists with over ten years of experience in traditional arts. The ‘Mukhya Mantri Guru-Shishya Parampara Yojana’ aims to preserve endangered arts by training talented youths under experienced gurus.

Amendments and Additional Benefits

The Cabinet approved amendments to the Bihar Factory Rules 1950, allowing women, except those who are pregnant or nursing, to work in hazardous factories. Further, the ‘Mukhya Mantri Chikitsa Sahayta Kosh’ will extend healthcare grants to elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions suffering from serious ailments.

Support for Retired Judges

New rules have been established to provide domestic help and telephone reimbursement for retired chief justices and judges. Retired judges will receive Rs 55,000 per month for domestic assistance, while retired chief justices will receive Rs 60,000. Additionally, they will be entitled to Rs 15,000 monthly for communication and secretarial expenses.
