Bharat International Rice Conference 2025
The Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2025 is set to take place on 30–31 October 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has clarified that the event is being organised by the Indian Rice Exporters’ Federation (IREF), a private trade body, with the government extending only non-financial support.
Organisation and Government’s Role
According to the Ministry, BIRC 2025 is a privately organised event aimed at promoting India’s rice export potential. The Department of Commerce, along with other related ministries and departments, is offering only non-financial assistance, such as facilitating coordination among stakeholders and ensuring wider participation. The government has reiterated that it has no role in the appointment or internal functioning of IREF or its leadership.
Purpose and Scope of the Conference
The two-day conference will focus on strengthening India’s position as a global rice exporter, addressing market challenges, and exploring opportunities in sustainable rice production and trade. It aims to bring together exporters, buyers, policymakers, and agricultural experts to foster collaboration within the rice value chain.
Event Funding and Collaboration
The entire expenditure for BIRC 2025—including venue booking, logistics, and hospitality for international buyers—is being fully funded by IREF and its co-partners through private sponsorships. Major associations such as The Rice Exporters Association (TREA), Kakinada, and TREA, Chhattisgarh, are co-organising the event. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is also providing coordination support by involving relevant ministries to ensure a holistic policy approach for export growth.
