Assam Governor Launches Sanskaar Shaala, Stresses Value-Based Education
Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Sunday inaugurated “Sanskaar Shaala”, a value-based education programme for children aged 4 to 14, at the Lohia Lions Auditorium in Guwahati. The initiative aims to instil Indian cultural values, moral discipline, and social responsibility among children at an early age, complementing formal education with ethical grounding.
Values as the Foundation of Society
Addressing the gathering, the Governor underlined that goodwill and good wishes are integral to India’s cultural ethos. Quoting the Sanskrit maxim ““Sanskarah hi gunanam moolam””, he said values form the foundation of all virtues and play a decisive role in shaping individual character and social harmony. While education imparts skills and knowledge, he added, values guide conduct and mould responsible, noble citizens.
Relevance of Ancient Indian Wisdom
Emphasising the importance of value-based education in a rapidly changing world, Acharya referred to India’s ancient civilisational texts such as the Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita. He noted that these scriptures continue to offer timeless guidance on truth, duty and righteousness, and stressed that progress in a competitive, technology-driven era must be balanced with morality, compassion and discipline.
Role of Community and National Vision
The Governor appreciated “Sanskaar Shaala” as a meaningful effort to preserve and promote India’s moral and cultural heritage. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is advancing rapidly while reaffirming its civilisational values.
