The Odisha Steel Producers’ Association (OSPA), a newly formed industry body representing major steel and mining companies in the state, has unanimously elected former Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy as its President. The announcement was made during a meeting of member companies on 20 April 2026. The association aims to strengthen industry coordination, improve stakeholder engagement, and support sustainable industrial growth in Odisha, India’s leading steel and iron ore producing state.

OSPA has been created as a collective platform for major steel and mining companies operating in Odisha. Its members include leading firms such as Jindal Steel, Tata Steel, Jindal Stainless, JSW Steel, and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AMNS), among others. The association seeks to encourage knowledge sharing, policy dialogue, and stronger collaboration between industry and government for long-term industrial development.

Leadership Appointments and Their Significance

Asit Tripathy, currently Advisor to Jindal Steel and former Chief Secretary of Odisha, brings decades of experience in governance, public policy, and industrial administration. His appointment is seen as important for giving OSPA strong institutional leadership. The association has also appointed S.K. Popli, a retired Indian Forest Service officer, as Secretary General.
