ARGOS instrument

ARGOS instrument was created by the French space agency, CNES and NASA in 1978. It is a scientific instrument for collecting oceanographic and meteorological data from around the world and relaying it to the ground stations. CLS, a subsidiary of the CNES , is the exclusive provider of Argos services and applications. Along with other space agencies like EUMETSAT, ISRO is also an active participant in the Argos system. India is now looking to incorporate the instrument in it’s OCEANSAT-3 satellite.
