Amit Shah inaugurates NSG IED data platform
Union home minister is set to virtually inaugurate the National IED Data Management System (NIDMS) on Friday at the garrison of the in Manesar near Gurugram. The launch marks a significant step towards strengthening India’s counter-terror and forensic response framework through technology-driven intelligence sharing.
Purpose and scope of NIDMS
NIDMS is a secure, national-level digital platform designed for systematic storage, collation and dissemination of improvised explosive device-related data. Developed by the National Bomb Data Centre under NSG, the platform will support post-blast investigations and advanced analytics. It aims to build a common data-driven understanding of IED incidents across state police forces, Central armed police forces and central agencies.
Boost to inter-agency coordination
The platform is expected to enhance coordination among multiple security stakeholders by providing a centralised repository of IED incidents, technical details and emerging trends. By enabling faster access to verified data, NIDMS is likely to improve preparedness, standardise investigative practices and strengthen response capabilities against terror and insurgency-related threats.
Inauguration programme details
The home minister will address the inauguration ceremony in virtual mode. A short film showcasing the functioning and operational benefits of NIDMS will also be screened. Senior NSG officials and representatives from various security agencies are expected to be associated with the launch, underscoring its national relevance.
