Alliance for Global Good-Gender Equity and Equality

At the 2024 World Economic Forum in Davos organized around the theme of “Rebuilding Trust”, India participated embodying the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” – ready to shape a shared future underpinned by global cooperation.

A key outcome was the launch of a “Global Good Alliance for Gender Equity and Equality” with WEF’s backing to bring together best practices, knowledge sharing and investments across women’s health, education and enterprise.

Upholding G20 Leaders’ Vision

The idea emerged from the G20 declaration with the alliance taking forward leaders’ gender commitments for worldwide benefit. It carries G20 groups’ work forward across industry (B20), women (W20) and employment (EMPOWER), benefiting more communities beyond the G20, the Minister stated at an India CII reception.

Carrying G20 Commitments Forward

The Alliance takes forward G20 leaders’ gender-related commitments under working groups like Women 20. It has garnered industry support from over 10,000 partners including Mastercard, Tata and Serum Institute.

Anchored by Gates Foundation

Anchored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the gender alliance will be housed at CII’s Centre for Women Leadership. WEF and Invest India have also come on board as network and institutional partners respectively. The alliance will be anchored by CII’s women leadership center with CII committed to engaging Indian and international industry to achieve its agenda.

Manifesting Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam

The alliance embodies India’s Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ethos – “One Earth, One Family, One Future” and its ongoing “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Prayas” development mantra, poised to drive progress on global women’s issues.
