WHO: world is in new and dangerous phase of COVID-19 pandemic

On June 19, 150,000 COVID-19 cases were reported. This is the highest in a single day. Nearly half of these cases are in Americas. Director General Tedros stated the virus is still spreading fast and that most people are still susceptible. He urged people to maintain social distancing and “extreme vigilance”. According to Reuters, 8.53 million COVID-19 cases were reported and more than 4 lakh people have died due to the virus.
