Anousheh Ansari
Anousheh Ansari is the name of an Iranian woman who became first woman private space explorer on September 18, 2006, when the Soyuz TMA-9 capsule took off for a 10-day visit to the International Space Station. She is also the fourth private explorer to visit space and the first astronaut of Iranian descent. Forty-year-old Ansari paid an estimated $20m to travel into space. Her memoir, My Dream of Stars, co-written with Homer Hickam, was published in 2010.
