The ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ is agricultural campaign set to run from May 29 to June 12, 2025. The initiative aims to educate and assist 1 to 1.5 crore farmers across 700 districts in India. The campaign coincides with the kharif sowing season.
Campaign Objectives
The main goal of the campaign is to raise awareness among farmers about modern agricultural technologies and new seed varieties. It aims to improve productivity and production of major crops. The initiative intends to directly engage farmers through a series of meetings and educational sessions.
Structure and Implementation
The campaign will involve the formation of 2,000 teams comprising farm scientists, officials, and progressive farmers. Each team is expected to conduct three meetings daily at the district level. The target is to reach 10 to 12 lakh farmers each day during the campaign period.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has called upon state agriculture ministers to lead the campaign in their respective states. This collaboration aims to ensure that farmers receive accurate information and guidance. The minister also plans to communicate with state chief ministers to enhance campaign effectiveness.
Seed Quality and Legislation
To safeguard farmers’ interests, the government is considering amendments to the Seeds Act of 1966. These amendments aim to curb the sale of spurious seeds and ensure that farmers have access to quality seeds. The campaign will also promote seed traceability to enhance accountability within the supply chain.
Focus on Productivity and Soil Health
India’s crop productivity is below the global average. The campaign aims to bridge this gap by encouraging the adoption of modern technologies and best practices. Additionally, soil health will be a priority, with soil health cards being utilised for optimal fertilizer usage.
Achievements and Future Goals
Since 2014, the government has made strides in the agriculture sector. The focus has been on increasing production, reducing input costs, and ensuring fair prices for farmers through enhanced procurement at minimum support price (MSP). Future goals will involve setting benchmarks to meet global standards in crop yield.
