Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 is a landmark national innovation event launched by the Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. It aims to engage students from schools across India in a large-scale hackathon focused on creativity and problem-solving. Organised by the Department of School Education & Literacy in partnership with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and AICTE, the Buildathon seeks to inspire young minds to contribute to India’s development through innovation.

Purpose and Themes

The Buildathon promotes four key themes – Vocal for Local, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, and Samriddhi. These themes encourage students to create solutions that support self-reliance, local products, and national prosperity. The event aims to cultivate an innovation mindset at the grassroots level and position India as a global innovation hub.

Event Structure and Timeline

The initiative began on 23 September 2025 with student registrations open until 6 October. A preparation phase from 6 to 13 October allows teachers to guide teams through the process. The core event, the Live Synchronized Innovation Event, occurs on 13 October. After this, students submit final prototypes until 31 October. Expert panels evaluate entries from November to December. Winners will be announced in January 2026, with over 1,000 top innovators recognised.

Organisers and Partners

The Department of School Education & Literacy leads the event with support from Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Senior officials from these bodies and educational institutions like Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) participate actively, ensuring wide reach and quality oversight.

This Buildathon builds on the success of previous initiatives like the School Innovation Marathon 2024, which encourageed patents, startups, and entrepreneurship among students. It is designed to enhance creative thinking, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial spirit in young learners. The event also supports India’s broader goals of sustainable growth and technological self-sufficiency.
