Veer Gatha 5.0 Awards Honour Young Voices of Patriotism

The Veer Gatha 5.0 awards ceremony was held in New Delhi, celebrating young students who creatively showcased the bravery and sacrifices of India’s gallantry heroes. The winners were felicitated by “Sanjay Seth”, Minister of State for Defence, and “Jayant Chaudhary”, Minister of State for Education. Veer Gatha is a joint initiative of the Ministries of Defence and Education, aimed at fostering patriotism among students.

About Veer Gatha 5.0 and Its Reach

Under Veer Gatha 5.0, a total of 100 winners were selected at the national level from 91 schools across 18 countries under three categories. Each awardee received a cash prize of ₹10,000 and the opportunity to witness the Republic Day Parade 2026 at Kartavya Path as special guests. This edition recorded the highest participation since the programme’s inception, with nearly 1.92 crore students from about 1.92 lakh schools taking part.

Student Stories Celebrating Gallantry

Speaking to Akashvani News, Akshita Sharma, a student of Air Force School Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, shared that she wrote a poem on “Rani Gaidinliu” of Nagaland. She highlighted that Rani Gaidinliu was honoured with the title of “Rani” by former Prime Minister “Jawaharlal Nehru”. Another winner, Ivaan Agarwal from a CBSE school in Malaysia, created a drawing of “Kamlesh Kumari”, recalling her role in saving Parliament and national leaders during the 2001 Parliament attack.

Art, History, and National Pride

Manisha Gupta from Rajasthan participated by painting “Shivaji Maharaj”, expressing joy at receiving national recognition. Her work reflected how historical icons and gallantry figures continue to inspire younger generations through creative expression and storytelling.

Objective of Project Veer Gatha

Project Veer Gatha was initiated in 2021 to commemorate India’s 75th year of Independence. The initiative aims to honour the courage and sacrifice of gallantry awardees by showcasing their life journeys, while instilling values of patriotism, civic responsibility, and respect for the armed forces among students in India and abroad.
