Uttarakhand Strengthens Healthcare for Char Dham Yatra
The Uttarakhand government has introduced comprehensive healthcare arrangements for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims. A key initiative is the ‘e-Swasthya Dham’ portal, which will enable real-time monitoring of pilgrims’ health and facilitate immediate medical assistance when required. The move reflects the state’s focus on integrating technology with public health services during large-scale religious events.
Real-time health monitoring system
The ‘e-Swasthya Dham’ portal will track the health status of pilgrims throughout the Yatra. This system is designed to ensure early detection of health issues and prompt response. Health screening points have been established along the routes, where devotees will undergo regular check-ups. This digital intervention aims to reduce risks associated with high-altitude travel and large gatherings.
Deployment of medical infrastructure
Extensive medical facilities have been set up across the pilgrimage routes, including permanent and temporary medical units at key halting points and all four Dhams. A total of 25 medical relief posts and 33 health screening centres have been established. These facilities will provide immediate treatment and stabilisation for pilgrims requiring medical attention.
Emergency response and ambulance network
To handle emergencies, 177 ambulances have been deployed, including 108 emergency service vehicles, advanced life support ambulances and specialised cardiac ambulances. A boat ambulance will operate in Tehri, while a helicopter ambulance, managed by AIIMS Rishikesh, will provide rapid evacuation in critical cases. Authorities have emphasised minimising response time to ensure timely care.
