UMEX and SimTEX 2026 Showcase Advances in Autonomous Technologies
The Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and the Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTEX) opened on January 20 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, bringing together global stakeholders to present cutting-edge developments in unmanned systems, robotics, simulation and training technologies. The exhibitions will run until January 22, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s growing role in the global autonomous technology ecosystem.
Record Participation and Global Representation
Now in its seventh edition, UMEX and SimTEX have recorded their largest participation since their launch in 2015. A total of 375 companies and brands from 38 countries are participating, including 10 first-time exhibitors. International firms account for around 55 per cent of total exhibitors, while the UAE pavilion stands as the largest at the event, reflecting strong domestic capabilities in advanced technologies.
Live Demonstrations and AI Integration
A major attraction of the exhibitions is a live artificial intelligence versus human pilot drone challenge, organised in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League. The event highlights rapid advances in autonomous flight and AI-driven decision-making. Strategic partner EDGE Group is showcasing its expanding portfolio of unmanned and advanced technology systems, underscoring the UAE’s focus on indigenous defence innovation.
Defence, Security and Dual-Use Applications
The exhibitions feature live demonstrations of mission-ready unmanned aerial and ground vehicles, counter-drone systems and AI-enabled operational scenarios. These displays highlight real-world defence and security applications, while also reflecting growing civil and commercial uses in sectors such as logistics, energy, agriculture, smart cities and public safety. The convergence of military and civilian autonomous technologies is a central theme.
