Terropterus xiushanensis

Terropterus xiushanensis is a marine creature belonging to the family of sea scorpions. These species lived 435 million years ago. That is, it belongs to the Llandovery epoch of Silurian period. The Terropterus xiushanensis belongs to the family of mixopteridae. Mixopteridae are the scientific names of sea scorpions.

The Terropterus xiushanensis is the oldest known mixopterid. It is one metre in length. It has a unique arrangement of spines and is different from the other Terropterus species. The prosomal limb of Terropterus xiushanensis is enlarged. It is the first Gondwanan mixopterid.
