Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2025

The Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2025 was launched by Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri C R Patil, in New Delhi. This initiative aims to assess rural sanitation across India. It is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to improving sanitation and hygiene in rural areas. The survey will evaluate the progress made under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G) and rank states and districts based on their sanitation performance.
Objectives of Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2025
The primary objective is to provide a national ranking of states and districts based on sanitation parameters. The survey focuses on sustaining the Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus Model achieved under SBM-G. It aims to validate the effectiveness of sanitation initiatives and encourage continuous improvement.
Methodology of the Survey
SSG 2025 will use a structured assessment framework aligned with SBM-G Phase II guidelines. An independent agency will conduct the survey. The methodology includes a sampled village assessment and surveys of households and public places. Key performance indicators will be evaluated to ensure a comprehensive understanding of sanitation status.
Key Components of Assessment
The assessment will be based on four key components:
- Service-Level Progress (SLP): Data from district self-assessment reports.
- Direct Observation of Sanitation Status: Field observations in sampled villages, including households and public places.
- Functionality of Sanitation Infrastructure: Evaluation of Plastic Waste Management Units, GOBARdhan plants, and Faecal Sludge Management systems.
- Citizen Feedback: Collected via a mobile application and direct interactions during the survey.
Importance of Citizen Engagement
Citizen participation is crucial for the success of SSG 2025. A dedicated mobile app has been developed to facilitate feedback collection. Engaging local communities ensures that sanitation efforts are relevant and effective. This approach empowers citizens to take ownership of sanitation initiatives.
Data Integrity and Transparency
To maintain data integrity, a geo-fencing feature has been introduced. This technology ensures accurate data collection and reporting. The survey process is designed to be transparent, community-driven, and technology-supported.
Future Implications
The launch of SSG 2025 represents step towards achieving a clean and healthy rural India. The collective efforts of local leaders, Panchayats, and citizens will play a very important role in shaping the sanitation landscape. The initiative aligns with the broader goal of a Swachh Bharat, promoting sustainable rural communities.
