Securities and Exchange Board of India

The Securities and Exchange Board of India or SEBI is a statutory body regulating the securities and commodity market in India. It was established in 1988 and legally backed by the SEBI Act, 1992. The Central Government recently announced that the SEBI will be notified as the regulator for gold exchanges. This is in accordance with the recommendation of committee under the NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand.
