The National Comprehensive Cancer Network has appointed Dr Renuka Iyer as its new Chief Medical Officer, marking a significant leadership transition for the organisation behind globally recognised cancer care guidelines. Dr Iyer brings more than two decades of academic and clinical experience, with a distinguished record in gastrointestinal oncology and research into rare cancers.

A Veteran Oncologist with Deep Clinical Expertise

Dr Iyer currently serves as Professor of Oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she also leads the Gastrointestinal Oncology section and oversees medical oncology across its care network. Her academic background includes training at Grant Medical College, residency at Cornell University, and an oncology fellowship at Roswell Park. She is board certified in internal medicine and oncology.

Contributions to Research and Professional Leadership

Her work spans immunotherapy, biomarkers, and quality-of-life research, with extensive publications and recognition from leading cancer organisations. Dr Iyer has been involved in guideline development through roles on professional panels, contributing to evidence-based practice across tumour types.
