Rajasthan Gets 2.89 Lakh PMAY-G Houses
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan sanctioned 2,89,355 pucca houses worth ₹3,473 crore for Rajasthan under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) on 17 August 2026. The approval letters were handed over at a state-level PMAY-G event in Baran, Rajasthan, to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin
PMAY-G is a rural housing scheme under the Ministry of Rural Development. It provides financial assistance for the construction of pucca houses in rural areas for eligible households identified through government surveys and verification processes.
Eligibility and Survey Process
A physical verification survey of 29,13,749 potential PMAY-G beneficiaries in Rajasthan was completed for further identification of eligible households. The updated PMAY-G guidelines now allow families owning a two-wheeler to qualify for housing assistance.
The revised criteria also raise the monthly income ceiling for women from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000. Eligibility has been expanded to small farmers owning up to 5 acres of unirrigated land or 2.5 acres of irrigated land.
Related Rural Development Measures
Along with the housing sanction, the Union Government approved an additional ₹340.59 crore for Rajasthan under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY). PM-RKVY is a centrally sponsored scheme linked to agricultural development and state-level project implementation.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan also announced that the target for the Lakhpati Didi initiative in Rajasthan would be doubled from 16 lakh to 32 lakh women. The Lakhpati Didi initiative is associated with women’s self-help groups and rural livelihood generation.
