India and Armenia Sign MoU on Defence Innovation
India and Armenia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Yerevan on 17 August 2026 for cooperation in defence research, development, innovation, and joint production. India’s Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh signed the agreement during a two-day official visit that began on 16 August 2026.

The MoU covers defence research, development, innovation, and joint production between India and Armenia. Rajesh Kumar Singh held discussions in Yerevan with Armenian High Tech Industry Minister Davit Tadevosyan on shared manufacturing and defence technology cooperation.

Rajesh Kumar Singh also met Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan and Chief of General Staff Lt Gen Edvard Asryan. India’s Ambassador to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, was present during the meetings in Yerevan.
Defence Trade and Equipment
The cumulative value of defence contracts signed between India and Armenia since 2020 reached nearly US$2 billion by 17 August 2026. Armenia has acquired or ordered Indian systems such as the Akash air defence system, Pinaka rocket launcher, Swathi radar, and Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS).
