Honnamana Kere (Honnama Lake) is the biggest lake in Kodagu district of Karnataka. It is also a holy place situated in Doddamalthe near Sulimalthe village which is 6 km away from Somwarpet town of Coorg.

Kalaburagi, also known as Gulbarga, is one of India’s seven cement clusters. It was transferred from Hyderabad State to Karnataka in 1956 during state reorganization. Karnataka is a top cement-producing state with about 17,253 million tons of limestone deposits. The state produces over 11 million tons of cement annually, contributing 6.51% of India’s total production. Karnataka has around 22 cement units with a combined capacity of 16 million metric tons per annum (MMTPA).

Manyakheta, now Malkhed, was the Rashtrakuta capital and a major literary hub in early Karnataka. It attracted scholars and poets with royal support. The famous Kannada work “Kavirajamarga” originated here. The court promoted both Kannada and Sanskrit literature. Madurai and Kanchipuram are linked to Tamil regions, while Warangal is associated with the Kakatiya dynasty.

Bhima Basin is famous for Limestone deposits. Dharwar Schist Belt is the primary host for Gold deposits. Bababudan Hills is known for Magnetite Iron Ore. Sandur Belt is rich in Manganese and Haematite minerals. Therefore, the correct matching is A-2, B-4, C-1, D-3.

New Mangalore Port Authority handled 46.09 million metric tonnes of cargo from April 2025 to March 2026. This surpassed the previous fiscal year’s total of 46.01 million metric tonnes. The port recorded a monthly cargo high of 5.44 million metric tonnes in December 2025. Container traffic grew by 4.88% year-over-year to 179,594 TEUs during this period. New Mangalore Port is Karnataka’s primary major port.

Karnataka has 37 wildlife sanctuaries according to the 6th All-India Tiger Estimation conducted in 2025-26. The census is led by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change and the Wildlife Institute of India. Results from the Karnataka Forest Department include data on five tiger reserves, five national parks, 37 wildlife sanctuaries, and 19 conservation reserves. The 2025-26 census updates previous counts and provides the latest verified figures.

Karnataka ranks 8th among Indian states in MSME count as of 2025 with approximately 12 lakh MSMEs. Maharashtra is ranked 1st with 37.12 lakh MSMEs, followed by Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. Karnataka’s share is about 5.67% of total MSMEs nationwide. The Udyam registrations show a total of 7.16 crore MSMEs in India as of November 2025.

C.V. Rangacharlu served as Diwan of Mysore from 1881 to 1883 during Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar X’s reign. The British returned Mysore administration to the royal family in 1881, installing Chamarajendra Wadiyar X as Maharaja. Rangacharlu established the Mysore Representative Assembly in 1881. After Rangacharlu’s death in 1883, K. Seshadri Iyer succeeded him as Diwan.

Rangayyanadurga Four-horned Antelope Sanctuary, established in 2011 in Jagalur taluk, Davanagere district, is Karnataka’s only sanctuary dedicated to conserving the Four-horned Antelope (Tetracerus quadricornis). The area consists of dry deciduous and scrub forests, the preferred habitat of this species. The sanctuary protects the northernmost distribution of the antelope in Karnataka’s arid interior, making it unique within the state.
