The United Arab Emirates (UAE) launched its first Sovereign Mobility Cloud at the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport in 2025. It is enabled by Core42’s Sovereign Public Cloud and powered by Microsoft Azure. The platform ensures all transport data is hosted within the UAE and governed under national regulations. It supports high-definition mapping, telematics, fleet operations, traffic management, and digital twins. The initiative provides regulatory sandboxes and test hubs for innovation in autonomous mobility.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana on 25th September 2025, the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. The scheme provides Rs 2,100 per month to eligible women to enhance economic and social empowerment. About 20 lakh women aged 23–60 from families with annual income up to Rs 1 lakh will benefit. The scheme has an annual budget of Rs 5,000 crore for 2025–26.

Recently, more than 1,200 earthquakes around Greece’s Santorini Island showed that Santorini and Kolumbo volcano share an underground magma reservoir. The Santorini and Kolumbo volcanoes are located in Greece, in the southern Aegean Sea, forming part of the Hellenic Volcanic Arc. Seismic and GPS data (2024–25) proved both volcanoes are interconnected through a common magma system. This is the first scientific evidence of their magmatic link, complicating eruption forecasting and highlighting the need for real-time monitoring. Both lie in the Hellenic Volcanic Arc, one of Europe’s most active volcanic zones, critical for global disaster management studies.

The Kokrajhar–Gelephu rail line between India and Bhutan has been declared a Special Railway Project (SRP) by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). It is the first-ever railway connectivity for Bhutan, giving the project huge strategic importance. The 69 km line will connect Kokrajhar in Assam (India) with Gelephu in Bhutan. Another link, the 16 km Banarhat–Samtse line, will connect West Bengal with Bhutan. The project supports India’s Act East Policy and strengthens bilateral ties with Bhutan.

India has launched an anti-dumping investigation on imports of Ethambutol Hydrochloride from China and Thailand. The probe is conducted by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The investigation follows an application by Lupin, India’s only domestic producer of the drug. Ethambutol Hydrochloride is used to treat pulmonary tuberculosis as part of combination therapy to prevent drug resistance.

A Dragonfly survey at Yamuna Biodiversity Park, Delhi recently recorded Yellow-tailed Ashy Skimmer (Potamarcha congener) for the first time. It is a species of dragonfly and belongs to the family Libellulidae. It is also called common chaser or swampwatcher. It is found in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania, including India, Indonesia, China, Australia, and Vietnam. It is classified as Least Concern under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.

International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW) is observed every year on September 29. The day highlights the global issue of food loss and waste affecting food security and climate stability. Nearly one-third of all food produced worldwide is lost or wasted, wasting resources and reducing nourishment for people. India, as one of the world’s largest food producers, faces significant challenges from post-harvest losses. These losses have economic, social, and environmental impacts, increasing pressure on natural resources and sustainability. The observance aims to raise awareness and encourage action to reduce food loss and waste globally.

District Magistrate Baramulla recently ordered the immediate closure of 14 gypsum mining units operating within 1 km of Lachipora Wildlife Sanctuary. Lachipora Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir, near the village of Lachipora on the northern banks of the Jhelum River. It primarily protects the endangered Markhor, a wild goat with twisted horns. It is designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA) and hosts the vulnerable Western Tragopan.

Cybercrime in India rose sharply by 31.2% in 2023, according to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report. Total cybercrime cases increased to 86,420 in 2023 from 65,893 in 2022. Fraud dominated with 59,526 cases (68.9%), followed by sexual exploitation 4,199 cases (4.9%) and extortion 3,326 cases (3.8%). Cybercrime rate increased from 4.8% in 2022 to 6.2% in 2023. Karnataka reported the highest cases (21,889), followed by Telangana 18,236 and Uttar Pradesh 10,794. Economic offences rose by 6% to 2,04,973 cases in 2023. Among economic offences, Forgery, Cheating and Fraud (FCF) had 1,81,553 cases, criminal breach of trust 22,759, and counterfeiting 661.
