Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh flagged off Samudra Pradakshina, an all-women tri-services sailing expedition, from Gateway of India. It is a symbol of Nari Shakti, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, military diplomacy, and global vision. Ten women officers will sail on IASV Triveni, covering 26,000 nautical miles in nine months, crossing the equator twice and sailing around Capes Leeuwin, Horn, and Good Hope. IASV Triveni, a 50-foot yacht built in Puducherry, will stop at ports in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Africa. The voyage highlights India’s progress in women empowerment, maritime adventure, and global recognition.

Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla inaugurated the 11th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Conference at Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru. The three-day conference theme is “Debates and Discussions in the Houses of Legislature, building people’s trust, meeting people’s aspirations.” The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is an international platform of nearly 180 Commonwealth Parliaments and Legislatures. Shri Om Birla serves as the ex-officio Chairperson of the CPA India Region Executive Committee. India is the 9th Region of the CPA and includes 31 State and Union Territory branches.

The World Athletics Championships 2025 take place from 13–21 September. The venue is the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. This marks the 20th edition of the World Athletics Championships since the first event in Helsinki, Finland, in 1983. More than 2,000 athletes from 200 teams are participating. The championship highlights global athletic talent and continues the legacy of international track and field competition.

Recently, a Forest Department patrol at Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary (TWS), Maharashtra, discovered a poached pangolin. Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Yavatmal district, Maharashtra. It is named after Goddess Tipai shrine in Tipeshwar village. The sanctuary lies in Patanbori and Parwa ranges of the Pandarkawad Forest Division. Four rivers—Purna, Krishna, Bhima, and Tapti—flow through it, making it the “Green Oasis of Eastern Maharashtra.” The land has basaltic volcanic soil and supports village livelihoods.

Recently, a study in Nature Reviews Disease Primers gave an in-depth analysis of sarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease where immune cells form granulomas in organs, mainly lungs. Granulomas are most common in lungs and lymph nodes but can also affect eyes, skin, heart, and other organs. Exact cause is unknown but linked to genetic changes and triggers like bacteria, viruses, dust, or chemicals. Symptoms range from mild to severe, including cough, breathlessness, shin sores, eye pain, and redness. Some cases resolve on their own, while others become chronic and may lead to fibrosis with lung scarring. There is no cure, but treatment with medicines reduces immune overreaction and prevents organ damage.

Chennai will host the 5th Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) in 2027, the golden jubilee year of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The three-day summit will include an International Coast Guard Fleet Review and a World Coast Guard Seminar. It will serve as a global platform to discuss emerging maritime challenges and promote international maritime cooperation. The decision was taken unanimously at the 4th Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) in Rome on September 12, attended by delegates from 115 countries and organisations.

Recently, the Gujarat government disbursed over Rs 1,000 crore to more than 10.49 lakh girl students under the Namo Lakshmi Yojana. Under the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana, more than 1.50 lakh students received over Rs 161 crore in financial assistance. Namo Lakshmi Yojana was launched by Gujarat government in 2024. The scheme supports girls in Classes 9 to 12 under Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Each girl receives Rs 50,000 over four years, even if already receiving other scholarships. Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana targets science students in Classes 11 and 12, offering Rs 25,000 over two years.

India hosted the 89th General Meeting (GM) of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) from 15–19 September 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a nonprofit organization established in 1906, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It prepares and publishes international standards for electrical, electronic, and related technologies. Its mission is to promote global cooperation in electrotechnical standardization. This is the fourth time India is hosting the General Meeting (GM) of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), after 1960, 1997, and 2013.

Recently, the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex was inaugurated in Naranpura, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It was built at a cost of ₹825 crore, it is India’s largest and one of the world’s most modern sports complexes. The complex was developed as part of the vision to create world-class sports infrastructure in the country. Ahmedabad, already home to Narendra Modi Stadium and the upcoming Sardar Patel Sports Complex, is emerging as a major sports hub. The city will host the World Police and Fire Games in 2029 and is preparing to host the 2036 Olympics with 13 international tournaments lined up.

Recently, the first-of-its-kind Swastik Lotus Garden was inaugurated at the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow, during the CSIR Startup Conclave. The garden features 60 lotus varieties from across the world and 50 species of water lilies. Conservation is ensured through advanced genetic methods, light regulation, and scientific treatments. CSIR technologies were transferred to private companies for public access, including perfumes Frotus-Rudra, Frotus-Kumbh, air-freshener Frotus Fresh, green firecrackers, aromatherapy oil Relaxomap, and portable water analysis kits. The initiative strengthens scientific innovation, conservation, and entrepreneurship at grassroots and national levels.
