Airbus announced that it would have its first zero emission (ZEROe) aircraft ready by 2035. It also announced that India will contribute to its design, research and development.
Airbus has started the work towards building the world’s first zero-emission commercial aircraft has already begun and Airbus India is involved in the design and development of the ZEROe aircraft.

As per a recent study, ants present across the world collectively constitute about 12 million tonnes of dry carbon.
The number of ants across the world is estimated about 20 quadrillion or 20 thousand million millions. They collectively weigh more than wild birds and mammals combined

The Union Bank of India inaugurated the Ethical Hacking Lab at the Cyber Security Centre of Excellence (CCoE) in Hyderabad.
The lab which is equipped with cyber defence mechanism will protect the bank’s information system, digital assets, and channels, against cyber threats.

The 13th Global Skills Summit 2022 has been organized by FICCI in New Delhi. The theme of the Summit is Education to Employability – Making it Happen.
Union Minister for Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradan inaugurated and addressed the Summit. Representatives from World Bank, ILO, UNDP, UNICEF and Industry leaders from organizations like LinkedIn, Amazon, Adobe will participate in the summit.

The government launched the indigenously-developed AVGAS 100 LL. It has been developed by Indian Oil Corporation.
It is a special aviation fuel meant for piston engine aircrafts and unmanned Arial vehicles. At present, India is importing this product from European countries. The domestic production of AVGAS 100 LL is produced by Indian Oil at its Gujarat refinery.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) carried out two successful test flights of the Very-Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile.
The tests were carried out from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, located off the coast of Odisha. VSHORADS is a Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD) designed and developed indigenously by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad.

Swedish defence firm Saab announced its plan to set up a manufacturing facility in India for the Carl-Gustaf M4 shoulder-fired weapon system.
A new company, Saab FFV India, will make the latest rocket launchers in India for the Indian armed forces, along with components for users of the weapon system around the world. Production at the new facility is expected to begin in 2024 under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Union Cabinet of India has approved a MoU between India and Bangladesh on withdrawal of upto 153 cusecs of water each by India and Bangladesh from the common border river Kushiyara.
This MoU will enable Government of Assam to withdraw upto 153 cusecs of water from Kushiyara River during dry season (1st November to 31st May).

UNESCO-MONDIACULT 2022 World Conference is being held in Mexico City. Union Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal will represent India at the conference.
The UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – MONDIACULT 2022 is the third such conference of UNESCO. The first such conference was held in 1982 in Mexico City, while the second in Stockholm in 1998.

Notes:
Union Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari said that the Union Government has postponed implementing a proposal making it mandatory for passenger cars to have six airbags by a year to 1 October 2023.
The government has cited inadequate capacity at the suppliers’ side to increase manufacturing of airbags. Inflation and regulatory costs made passenger vehicles expensive.
