Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai announced that the ban on production, sale and use of all types of firecrackers will be extended till January 1, 2023.
The decision has been taken to contain the pollution during the festival season. The ban has been also been extended to online sale of firecrackers. An action plan is set to be drawn to ensure strict enforcement of the ban. The AAP also launched the ‘patakhe nahi diye jalao’ campaign to create awareness against bursting of firecrackers.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal launched the US Startup ‘SETU – Supporting Entrepreneurs in Transformation and Upskilling’ programme in San Francisco.
The initiative would connect start-ups in India to US-based investors and start-up ecosystem leaders with mentorship in various areas including funding, market access and commercialization.

Two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) were signed between India and Bangladesh to deepen the inter-governmental railway cooperation between the two countries.
The MoUs were signed and exchanged during the visit of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina to India. The two MoUs signed include ‘Training of Bangladesh Railway Employees in the Training Institute of Indian Railways’ and ‘Collaboration in IT Systems such as FOIS and other IT applications for Bangladesh Railway’.

Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away recently at the age of 96, ascended the royal Britain throne in the year 1952. As of now, she is the longest serving monarch, who reigned for 70 years.
The Queen became the UK’s longest-serving monarch in 2015, when she surpassed the record of Queen Victoria, who had ruled from 1837 to 1901. Her eldest son, Charles, succeeds her on the throne as King Charles III.

According to a Fortune India’s list of ‘India’s Richest’ for 2022, Gautam Adani was ranked first with the wealth of Rs 10.29 trillion.
The wealth of 142 billionaires based in India is collectively worth USD 832 billion (Rs 66.36 trillion). Asia’s richest man Gautam Adani recently overtook Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to become the third richest person in the world, according to Forbes real-time billionaires list.

Union Ministry of Shipping, Ports and Waterways, along with Gujarat Maritime Board and FICCI, will organise an ‘International Conference on ‘Green Ship Recycling and Vehicle Scrapping’ in Gandhinagar.
It aims to showcase the status of the ship recycling industry and explore synergies of ship recycling industry with the vehicle scrapping industry.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras) has become the first Indian educational institute to join the New York-based IBM Quantum Network.
This collaboration between IIT-M and IBM will benefit researchers from IIT Madras in research in the field of applied quantum computing with industry support from IBM Research India.

‘Hindi Diwas or National Hindi Day’ is celebrated every year on September 14 to mark the adaptation of Hindi (written in Devanagari script) as the official language by the Constituent Assembly on September 14, 1949.
World Hindi Day 2020 is observed on January 10. The day commemorates the anniversary of the first World Hindi Conference held in Nagpur of January 10, 1975.

National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) released the guidelines for ‘Early identification and intervention for mental health problems in school going children and adolescents’.
The guidelines include setting up of a mental health advisory panel, school based mental health programme and pedagogical support to ensure mental well- being of students and engaging parents.

Norway’s Central bank- the Norges Bank released the open source code for the country’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) sandbox based on Ethereum technology.
The sandbox is designed to offer an interface to interact with the test network. It also has enabled functions like minting, burning, and transferring tokens. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), 97 countries, (more than half of the global central banks) are developing CBDCs.
