Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Pradhan Mantri Schools For Rising India (PM-SHRI) Yojana.
Under the scheme, 14,500 schools from across the country will be upgraded as PM-SHRI schools. They will have a modern and transformational method of imparting education. The PM SHRI Schools will showcase all components of the National Education Policy 2020

Notes:
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the USD 4.7 billion acquisition of online payment gateway provider BillDesk by Prosus-backed PayU India.
This is the largest combination ever approved by CCI in the fintech space. PayU, the payments and fin-tech business of Prosus will become a leading online payment provider globally by payment volume.

Notes:
A space consortium formed by Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) was awarded the contract for the next five Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles (PSLVs).
The consortium bagged a Rs 860-crore contract for end-to-end realisation of five PSLVs over a period of four years from NewsSpace India (NSIL). This was announced during the inaugural session of the 7th Bengaluru Space Expo 2022.

Notes:
A majority 61.9 percent of Chileans voted against the proposed new constitution. It was set to replace the ruling constitution written in 1980 during the dictatorship of conservative President Augusto Pinochet.
In 2019, millions of Chileans took to the streets to march against the rising costs of living and inequalities. 36 year old Gabriel Boric was sworn in as the new President of Chile. The new proposal was claimed as feminist, ecological and progressive.

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) approved the country’s first intra-nasal Covid-19 vaccine for restricted emergency use in those aged above 18 years.
The vaccine named ‘iNCOVACC’ was developed by Bharat Biotech and it is the only the second such vaccine in the world after CanSino Biologics’ vaccine in China, to get regulatory approval. iNCOVACC is a chimpanzee adenovirus vectored recombinant nasal vaccine that has been formulated to allow delivery through nasal drops.

Notes:
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has set up a committee under noted energy expert Kirit Parikh to review the current gas pricing formula.
There have been concerns over rising global natural gas prices increasing energy and industrial costs.  The committee has been asked to submit the report by the end of this month.

Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India launched an initiative called ‘Women in Engineering, Science, and Technology (WEST)’.
It is a new I-STEM (Indian Science Technology and Engineering facilities Map) initiative. It aims to cater to women with a STEM background and empower them to contribute to the science, technology, and innovation ecosystem. I-STEM is a national web portal for sharing research equipment and facilities.

Notes:
The Union Cabinet has approved the implementation of the Phase II of Kochi Metro Rail Project at a cost of Rs 1,957.05 crore, with a length of 11 kilometers with 11 stations.
The first phase in Kochi from Aluva to Petta, covering a length of 25 km with 22 stations at an estimated completion cost of Rs. 5182 crores, is fully operational.

Padma Shri awardee Ramchandra Manjhi, who was a famous Bhojpuri folk dancer, passed away recently at the age of 97.
He preserved the ailing art form of Bhojpuri folk dance ‘Naach’ for eight decades through his consistent performance. Manjhi was a performer of ‘Launda Naach’, a sub-set of ‘Naach’, in which men cross-dress as women. He received several honours including Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2017) and Padma Shri (2021).

The Meghalaya Government launched a multi-purpose online portal ‘Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA)’.
The digitisation process would connect more than 6,000 villages and localities across Meghalaya to the online system. This aims to ensure the safety and security of the residents, gathering intelligence inputs for better delivery of numerous government services.
