Environment officials from the Group of 20 nations met at Indonesia’s Bali Island for talks on climate action and the global impact of the war in Ukraine.
They also discussed the implementation of each G20 nation’s contribution to fight climate change and synchronise targets among developing and developed countries.

Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under Ministry of Electronics & IT, in collaboration with Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), successfully designed and conducted the Cyber Security Exercise ‘Synergy’ for 13 Countries.
It was conducted as a part of the International Counter Ransomware Initiative- Resilience Working Group which is led by India under the leadership of National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). The theme of the exercise was ‘Building Network Resiliency to counter Ransomware Attacks’.

The Delhi Police has become the first police force in the country to make collection of forensic evidence mandatory in crimes punishable with a sentence of more than six years.
This has been done to increase conviction rate and to integrate the criminal justice system with forensic science investigation. Delhi Police has integrated the Criminal Justice System (ICJS) with forensic science investigation and collaborated with National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar to train its officers.

A wildlife enthusiast from Karnataka has discovered a new crab species from the Western Ghats of Karnataka.
Named as ‘Ghatiana Dwivarna’, this bright coloured crab is the 75th fresh water crab of the Western Ghats. It is a fresh water crab that lives under the tiny rocks in thick dense forests of Western Ghats. The crab majorly feeds on algae but also eats small insects of the mosquito family.

Ministry of Road Transport and Highway constituted an Expert Committee, chaired by Tata Narsingh Rao. He is the Director of International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad.
Based on the recommendations of the expert committee report, the Ministry has issued amendments including additional safety requirements related to battery cells, on-board charger, design of battery pack, thermal propagation due to internal cell short circuit leading to fire etc.

Ramon Magsaysay Award is also regarded as Asia’s version of the Nobel Prize. Named after the late Philippine president, it is presented annually to individuals or organizations in Asia who undertakes selfless service and transformational actions.
This year’s award has been presented to four people across the world for their selfless service to the people of Asia.

Alappuzha has become the fifth fully digital banking district in the State of Kerala. This was declared by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Kerala.
As part of the initiative, at least one digital transaction facility, such as debit-credit card, Internet banking, mobile banking, UPI etc, has been enabled in 26 lakh bank accounts in 29 banks in the district. Banking services in Thrissur, Kottayam, Palakkad and Kasaragod have already become digital.

China has responded to a United Nations report on alleged human rights abuses in its north-western Xinjiang region targeting Uyghurs and other mainly Muslim ethnic minorities.
The report has been in the works for years and was released recently. The report claims that more than 1 million ethnic minority members were forcibly sent to re-education centers.

The Telangana Government decided to observe September 17 as Telangana National Unity Day. The state will observe Telangana National Unity Diamond Jubilee Festival for three days.
The Centre has decided to mark Hyderabad State Liberation Day on September 17. The 75th anniversary of the event will be marked as a yearlong event. The inaugural event will be organised by the Union Ministry of Culture in Hyderabad and will be presided over by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Gabon hosted the Africa Climate Week became the first African country to receive payments for conserving its forests.
It is the second-most forest-dense country in the world and it harnesses this resource by protecting its forests and generating carbon credits. Gabon received $17 million from Norway in June 2021. The deal, known as a Results Based Payment Agreement, was facilitated by the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI), a part of UNDP.
