Notes:
PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) was announced in the National Educational Policy (NEP).
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and the state education boards are collaborating to draw up a ‘benchmark framework’ to bring uniformity across state and central boards. PARAKH will be the national single-window source for all assessment-related information. It will oversee the periodic tests like the National Achievement Survey (NAS) and State Achievement Survey.

WHO and UNICEF released a report titled ‘Progress on WASH in health care facilities 2000-2021: special focus on WASH and infection prevention and control’.
The report has established the global baseline on hygiene services. As per the report, half of health care facilities worldwide lack basic hygiene services with water and soap or alcohol-based hand rub and at toilets in these facilities. Around 3.85 billion people use these facilities, who face greater risk of infection.

A wildlife enthusiast from Karnataka has discovered a new crab species from the Western Ghats of Karnataka.
Named as ‘Ghatiana Dwivarna’, this bright coloured crab is the 75th fresh water crab of the Western Ghats. It is a fresh water crab that lives under the tiny rocks in thick dense forests of Western Ghats. The crab majorly feeds on algae but also eats small insects of the mosquito family.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the new Naval Ensign (flag) at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi
The Indian Flag is placed on the top left of the flag, while a blue octagonal shape that encompasses the national emblem sits atop an anchor on the right, which depicts steadfastness. The octagonal shape has been designed to represent eight directions, depicting the multi-directional reach and of the Indian Navy. The twin golden borders surrounding it are inspired from Chhatrapati Shivaji.

Notes:
Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections rose to Rs 1,43,612 crore for August 2022.  Monthly GST revenues have remained above the Rs 1.4 lakh crore mark for the last six months (from March 2022).
However, the August collection is lower than the previous month but 28.2 per cent higher year-on-year, as per the data released by the Finance Ministry.

Bhitarkanika National Park is located in the state of Orissa. It houses several rare and endangered varieties of wildlife species.
A record 3,700 saltwater crocodiles were born in Bhitarkanika National Park recently from 122 nests. As per reports, last year, around 2,500 crocodiles were born from 84 nests.

Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare virtually inaugurated the ‘Swasth Sabal Bharat’ Conclave.
The purpose of the conclave was to discuss the situation of body-organ-eye donation in India and find solutions to the challenges ahead. The Union Minister emphasized on ‘Jan Bhagidari’ or people’s movement to encourage people to donate their organs for humanity.

The Sea of Okhotsk is a marginal sea of the Pacific Ocean with Japan and Russia and basin countries.
The Russian and Chinese navies will operate in the Sea of Japan in the upcoming Vostok 2022 military drills. The navies will practice operations in the waters and in the coastline areas of the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk.

Gabon hosted the Africa Climate Week became the first African country to receive payments for conserving its forests.
It is the second-most forest-dense country in the world and it harnesses this resource by protecting its forests and generating carbon credits. Gabon received $17 million from Norway in June 2021. The deal, known as a Results Based Payment Agreement, was facilitated by the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI), a part of UNDP.

Odisha government distributed financial assistance of Rs 869 crores to 41 lakh small and marginalised farmers and 85,000 landless farmers under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme.
Each registered farmer has got Rs 2000 directly in their bank account under the assistance. It was distributed on the occasion of Nuakhai, the Harvesting festival of Odisha.
