Formula One championship ace Max Verstappen recently won the Italian Grand Prix tournament.  Charles Leclerc finished second and George Russell was third, ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr. and Lewis Hamilton.
Verstappen now has a 116-point lead over Charles Leclerc. He had earlier won the Belgian Grand Prix, the Dutch Grand Prix and the Hungarian Grand Prix among others.

Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 23 runs in the Asia Cup final to secure its sixth title in Dubai. Sri Lanka scored 170-6 off their 20 overs, with Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s unbeaten 71 from 45 balls.
The Sri Lankan cricket team is being coached by former England coach Chris Silverwood.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented BusinessLine’s Changemaker of the Year award to Bharat Biotech. Mithali Raj, the veteran women cricket player of Indian team, who brought laurels to the country was presented the iconic changemaker of the year award.
Institutions including DeHaat and Zerodha, as well as achievers including Ramesh Raliya, Prachi Shevagaonkar and Akash Singh  were among the winners.

US President Joe Biden has announced an ambitious plan to reduce cancer deaths in the United States.
A new agency named ‘ARPA-H, Advanced Research Projects Agencies for Health’ regarding the plan. Cancer is the second most cause of death in the country after heart disease. ARPA-H aims to prevent, detect, and treat diseases including Cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and other diseases.

Karnataka government’s cyber centre of excellence in cyber security ‘CySecK’ has signed a MoU with Dell Technologies to create enhanced cyber security practices in the state, especially among students.
The agreement involves imparting of cyber security awareness and practices to students, startups small and medium-scale enterprises and public offices.

Azerbaijan and Armenia, former Soviet republics, are located in the mountainous Caucasus region, which span Asia and Europe. Azerbaijan is bounded by the Caspian Sea.
Azerbaijan reported that over 70 of its troops had died in border clashes with Armenia in the worst fighting since 2020.

Andhra Pradesh emerged as India’s top investment destination in the first seven months of 2022, as per the recent Department for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (DPIIT) report.
The state attracted investments amounting to Rs 40,361 crore in the first seven months of 2022, out of India’s investment of Rs 1,71,285 crore. Andhra is followed by Odisha with Rs 36,828 crore.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, NCPCR has revamped its online portal E-Baal Nidan for redressal of grievances against violation of child rights.
NCPCR is an Indian statutory body working under the aegis of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.

National Sports Development Fund NSDF of the Department of Sports signed Memorandum of Understandings MoUs with NTPC and REC Ltd, two major PSUs under Ministry of Power.
NTPC made a commitment for Rs 115 crores towards Archery while REC Limited made a commitment for Rs 100 Crores for 3 years towards Women’s hockey, Boxing and athletics.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana, more than 8,700 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras have been opened across the country. They sell quality generic medicines, surgical equipment in affordable prices.
It is implemented by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers said in a statement. The government recently launched diabetes drug Sitagliptin and its combinations at rates as low as Rs 60 per pack of ten, at Janaushadhi Kendras.
