The Emmy Awards 2022 Awarding Ceremony was held recently in Los Angeles. Lead Actor in a Drama Series title was won by Lee Jung-jae, Squid Game while the Lead actress in the same category was won by Zendaya for Euphoria.
Hwang Dong-hyuk won the directing Emmy for the dystopian Korean thriller, Squid Game. Jason Sudeikis won Best Actor in Comedy Series for Apple’s show Ted Lasso.

The ‘India-Africa Growth Partnership conclave’ was jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Exim Bank.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the conclave and announced that India can be a valuable partner to African nations. In four critical areas including Solar energy, infrastructure, military cooperation and Start-up ecosystem.

Shoonya is an awareness campaign to reduce air pollution by promoting the use of electric vehicles (EVs) for ride-hailing and deliveries
NITI Aayog held a forum to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Shoonya, India’s zero pollution e-mobility campaign. During the event, the National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Energy Storage report was also launched.

National Sports Development Fund NSDF of the Department of Sports signed Memorandum of Understandings MoUs with NTPC and REC Ltd, two major PSUs under Ministry of Power.
NTPC made a commitment for Rs 115 crores towards Archery while REC Limited made a commitment for Rs 100 Crores for 3 years towards Women’s hockey, Boxing and athletics.

15-year-old chess player Pranav Anand from Bengaluru recently became India’s 76th Grandmaster. He crossed the 2,500 Elo mark in the ongoing World Youth Chess Championship in Mamaia, Romania.
To become a Grandmaster, a player has to secure three GM norms and cross the live rating of 2,500 Elo points. Pranav Anand scored the third and final GM norm at the 55th Biel Chess Festival in Switzerland in July 2022.

‘Typhoon Nanmadol’ is expected to make landfall in Japan. The country’s weather agency issued a rare warning about the powerful storm.
Nearly two million people in Japan have been asked to seek shelter before Typhoon Nanmadol. It is the first typhoon-linked special warning issued outside of the Okinawa region since the present system began in 2013.

The Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of MSME.
Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) recently inaugurated 72 Units assisted under PMEGP and Disbursed Margin Money Subsidy to 720 PMEGP Beneficiaries. KVIC is the nodal Agency at the national level to implement this credit linked subsidy scheme.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s National space Agency (MBRSC) has signed memorandum of understanding with the China National Space Agency (CNSA) to work together on future lunar efforts.
The two agencies will collaborate on future moon missions which involve the landing of an MBRSC rover aboard a CNSA lander.

India has become the largest bilateral lender to Sri Lanka by disbursing a total of USD 968 million in loans in four months of 2022, surpassing China.
China has maintained its position as the largest bilateral lender to Sri Lanka in the past five years from 2017 to 2021. Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been the largest multilateral lender in the past five years by disbursing an amount of USD 610 million in 2021.
