Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the All-India Official Language Conference in Gujarat’s Surat.
The conference is being organised on the occasion of Hindi Day , which is celebrated annually on September 14 across the country.

The sixth planet from the sun, Uranus appeared to pass directly behind Earth’s moon, going out of sight for three and a half hours.
The disappearing act is also known as the lunar occultation of Uranus. Only viewers in Europe, northern Africa and western Asia were at the exact right angle to see the phenomenon.

FICCI is organizing the thought Leadership initiative of India, LEADS (Leadership, Excellence, Adaptability, Diversity, Sustainability) in New Delhi.
It will have more than 250 participants from around 50 countries. The 3rd edition will include the discussions by 36 global thought leaders exchanging ideas on 11 themes including manufacturing; food for all; innovation; mobility etc. Indian Union Ministers and their counter-parts from Germany and New Zealand will address various thematic sessions.

The Indian Navy has recently revived its training area at the Manasbal Lake in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
It was closed following the eruption of terrorism before 33 years in 1989 and the training areas were shifted to Mansar Lake in Jammu. The facility at the Manasbal Lake in the central Kashmir district was excellent for naval training of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

National Sports Development Fund NSDF of the Department of Sports signed Memorandum of Understandings MoUs with NTPC and REC Ltd, two major PSUs under Ministry of Power.
NTPC made a commitment for Rs 115 crores towards Archery while REC Limited made a commitment for Rs 100 Crores for 3 years towards Women’s hockey, Boxing and athletics.

Indian scientist and industrialist Dr Swati Piramal has been conferred France’s top civilian honour -The Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur.
The vice-chairperson of the Piramal Group was conferred the Knight of the Legion of Honour for her contributions in the fields of business and industry, science, medicine, and towards strengthening Indo-French ties.

World Ozone Day or International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is celebrated every year on 16 September.
The day is observed to create awareness about the harmful effects of ozone layer depletion. This year, the theme of World Ozone Day 2022 is ‘Global Cooperation to Protect Life on Earth’. The first-ever Ozone Day was celebrated on 16 September 1995.

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has organised the Hackathon 3.0 ‘KRITAGYA’ for promoting ‘speed breeding for crop improvement’.
ICAR, along with its National Agricultural Higher Education Project and Crop Science Division, is organizing the event. Students, faculty and innovators across the country can apply and participate as a group and can collaborate with local start-ups.

Vigyan Pragati is a popular science magazine released by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
The magazine has received the National Rajbhasha Kirti Award at the Second All India Rajbhasha Sammelan held at Surat from Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs. ‘Vigyan Pragati’ magazine aims at communicating Science and Technology to the masses in simple language.

Notes:
World Patient Safety Day is observed on September 17. In 2019, World Health Organization’s (WHO) declared September 17 as the World Patient Safety Day.
This year, the theme of World Patient Safety Day 2022 is ‘Medication Safety’ along with the slogan ‘Medication Without Harm’.
