According to Japan Meteorological Agency, Typhhon Muifa hit Ishigaki Island, near Taiwan. The typhoon approached Japan’s southern islands.
Typhoon Muifa has also brought heavy downpours and winds to islands in Japan’s Okinawa. China has also launched emergency response as the typhoon approaches.

Hughes Communications India (HCI) in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) officially launched its first high throughput satellite (HTS) broadband internet service in the country.
Through the HTS technology, the company is already providing assistance to the Indian Army, and paramilitary forces along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and other remote border outposts. High-throughput Satellite increases capacity while simultaneously reducing the cost per bit.

FICCI is organizing the thought Leadership initiative of India, LEADS (Leadership, Excellence, Adaptability, Diversity, Sustainability) in New Delhi.
It will have more than 250 participants from around 50 countries. The 3rd edition will include the discussions by 36 global thought leaders exchanging ideas on 11 themes including manufacturing; food for all; innovation; mobility etc. Indian Union Ministers and their counter-parts from Germany and New Zealand will address various thematic sessions.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit is being held in Samarkand in Uzbekistan. It is SCO’s first in-person summit in after two years.
The summit will also see the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting aims to deliberate on regional security challenges, boosting trade and energy supplies among other issues.

National Sports Development Fund NSDF of the Department of Sports signed Memorandum of Understandings MoUs with NTPC and REC Ltd, two major PSUs under Ministry of Power.
NTPC made a commitment for Rs 115 crores towards Archery while REC Limited made a commitment for Rs 100 Crores for 3 years towards Women’s hockey, Boxing and athletics.

15-year-old chess player Pranav Anand from Bengaluru recently became India’s 76th Grandmaster. He crossed the 2,500 Elo mark in the ongoing World Youth Chess Championship in Mamaia, Romania.
To become a Grandmaster, a player has to secure three GM norms and cross the live rating of 2,500 Elo points. Pranav Anand scored the third and final GM norm at the 55th Biel Chess Festival in Switzerland in July 2022.

Regulatory technology (Regtech) is a new technology which uses information technology to enhance regulatory and compliance processes.
SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch recently launched Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry’s (FICCI) initiative to strengthen compliance with a tech-based solution. It is supported by a regulatory technology (Regtech) solutions company. It allows tracking of over 2,000 SEBI compliances and auto-generation of select SEBI disclosures.

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has organised the Hackathon 3.0 ‘KRITAGYA’ for promoting ‘speed breeding for crop improvement’.
ICAR, along with its National Agricultural Higher Education Project and Crop Science Division, is organizing the event. Students, faculty and innovators across the country can apply and participate as a group and can collaborate with local start-ups.

Uzbekistan handed over the rotating presidency of the eight-member Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to India in Samarkand.
The SCO has eight full members, including its six founding members, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan joined as full members in 2017.

The Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of MSME.
Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) recently inaugurated 72 Units assisted under PMEGP and Disbursed Margin Money Subsidy to 720 PMEGP Beneficiaries. KVIC is the nodal Agency at the national level to implement this credit linked subsidy scheme.
