The Sir J.J. School of Art, Architecture, and Applied Arts in Mumbai, established in 1878 has received a de-novo deemed university status and will be known as Sir J.J. School of Art, Architecture, and Design.
The university will have five new departments and aims to become an institute of eminence. The state will hold 100% stake in the Sir J.J. School of Art, Architecture, and Design Foundation, which will fund the university.

Notes:
The Rafah Border Crossing, also known as Ma’bar Rafah in Arabic, serves as the exclusive crossing point between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
It is currently the only point that is not controlled by Israel where civilians can enter and exit Gaza by land.

‘Exercise Prasthan 2023’ was conducted by the Naval Officer-in-Charge, Andhra Pradesh, under the Eastern Naval Command, to ensure the security of offshore development areas in Kakinada.
The exercise involved multiple organizations, including the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, oil operators, port authorities, and state agencies. Various scenarios, such as terrorist attacks and oil spills, were simulated to test the efficacy of security mechanisms.

The Reserve Bank of India has notified the amendment in Foreign Exchange Management (Debt Instruments) Regulations, 2019.
Under this amendment, Russia, along with 21 other countries, can now invest in dated Government Securities and Treasury Bills through a rupee account. Russia has been hit by its mounting surplus rupee problem.

Union Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated IFFCO’s Nano DAP (Liquid) Plant at Kalol in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
IFFCO’s Kalol unit will produce about 42 lakh bottles of green technology-based Nano DAP. While a bag of conventional DAP costs around 1300 rupees, the farmers can get one bottle of nano liquid DAP for 600 rupees.

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) account for 66 per cent of all deaths in India, of which 22 per cent were premature deaths in 2019.
As per a recent analysis by ICMR, India is expected to fall short of WHO and UN Goals for reducing premature deaths from NCD.

India created history at the Asian Para Games 2023, ending the event with their best-ever performance of 111 medals in Hangzhou.
This year’s figure is more than the 72 medals in 2018, includes 29 gold medals, 31 silver and 51 bronze. In the overall leaderboard, India finished in 5th position which is also their best-ever standing.

Recently, the Central government inaugurated the ‘Dark Patterns Buster Hackathon 2023,’ with the objective of creating an innovative application or software-based solution capable of identifying dark patterns on e-commerce platforms.
This hackathon is being conducted in partnership with the Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA) and IIT-(BHU).

Astronomers made a remarkable discovery of tellurium, an element even rarer than platinum on Earth, located approximately 1 billion light-years away.
This discovery was made possible through observations conducted using NASA’s advanced James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

Lok Sabha Ethics Committee has asked Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra to appear before it, in connection with the cash-for-query allegation.
The members of the Ethics Committee are appointed by the speaker for a period of one year.  At present, the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee is headed by the BJP MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar and has 15 members.
