The European Union (EU) is holding its first live military exercises in Spain from October 16-22. The exercises are called Live Exercise (LIVEX) and are part of the MILEX 23 military drills. The exercises are taking place at the Rota naval base near the southern city of Cadiz.
The exercises involve a simulated landing on Spanish beaches to secure a harbor of a fictitious country. The exercises are the first time the EU has planned and executed a major air-sea-amphibious military exercise without leaning on NATO structures. 2,800 men and women from several European Union Member States are taking part in the exercises.

Seven different AI Working Groups within the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) have presented the inaugural IndiaAI report.

Central Banker Report Card has been issued by Global Finance on an annual basis since 1994. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das received the Award for being ranked ‘A+’ in the Global Finance- Central Banker Report Cards 2023 in Marakkesh city of Morocco.
The award recognizes those central bank governors whose strategies outperformed their peers through originality, creativity, and tenacity. Two other central bankers- Thomas J. Jordan of Switzerland and Nguyen Thi Hong of Vietnam earned an ‘A+’ grade.

The report titled “The Impact of Disasters on Agriculture and Food Security” was released recently by the Food and Agriculture Organisation.
It indicates that natural disasters have caused approximately $3.8 trillion in losses in crop and livestock production over the past three decades, with the largest portion of these economic losses occurring in Asia.

The vessel ‘Zhen Hua 15’, which began its journey from a port in Shanghai, China, at the end of August, reached Vizhinjam Seaport in Kerala. It became the first ship to berth at the under-construction port.
It had made a pitstop at the Mundra port in Gujarat on its way to Vizhinjam to offload some cranes. The ₹7,600 crore mega infrastructure project is being implemented on a public-private partnership (PPP) model with funding from the state government, Centre, and the Adani Ports Private Limited.

Australia recorded its ninth win over Sri Lanka, the most by a team against a single opponent in World Cups.
Australia defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets and recorded its first win in the present World Cup. Australian team is led by Pat Cummins.

The National Highways Authority of India has introduced new and forward-thinking standards and specifications for its Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) in 2023.
This update is designed to leverage the latest developments in artificial intelligence technology. The primary goal of this initiative is to improve road safety, decrease incident response times, and enhance digital enforcement on national highways and expressways.

KatiBihu is a festival celebrated in Assam. It marks the relocation of rice saplings and is known as Kongali Bihu.
There are another two Bihu festivals celebrated in Assam – Bhogali or Magh Bihu is observed in January and Rongali or Bohag Bihu is observed in the month of April.

In an effort to promote the employability and skillsets of Tripura’s youth, a project named “Heartland Tripura” was officially launched. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving Deloitte India and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) in Agartala.
‘Heartland Tripura’ aims to create fresh avenues for career advancement and personal development for undergraduate students, encompassing both engineering and non-engineering disciplines.
