The National Framework for Climate Services (NFCS) aims to establish an integrated platform for users of climate information and services.
NFCS is led by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Its goal is to facilitate informed decision-making and the management of climate-related risks in critical sectors such as agriculture, energy, disaster management, health, and water.

Indian government along with the Indian Drugs Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) celebrated the first ever National Current Good Manufacturing Practice Day (cGMP Day) on 10 October.
GMP, as mandated by the World Health Organization (WHO), prescribes essential standards to enhance product quality. There are around 10,500 drug manufacturing units in India, out of which only 2,000 have WHO GMP certification.

World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9 October. The event was declared by the 1969 Universal Postal Congress in Tokyo to mark the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union’s (UPU) creation in 1874.

Nauka, also known as the Multipurpose Laboratory Module-Upgrade (MLM), serves as the primary laboratory in the Russian Orbital Segment of the International Space Station.
It is utilized for experiments, the storage of scientific instruments, and can function as a backup service module for the ISS. Its name, “Nauka,” means “science” in Russian. Recently, a coolant leak originated from external backup radiator circuit of the Nauka module.

The Indian Ocean Rim Association includes 23 countries from Africa, West Asia, South Asia, South East Asia, Australia and states situated in and around the Indian Ocean.
Sri Lanka took charge as Chair this year from Bangladesh, for a period of two years 2023 to 2025.  India took charge as the Vice-Chair. The 26-year-old organisation is the brainchild of former South African President Nelson Mandela.

Krish, Trish and Baltiboy KTB will present the story of the freedom fighters and their struggle for Independence in a unique way. The Bharat Hain Hum Animation Series will commence in Doordarshan, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin initiated ‘Project Nilgiri Tahr’ from the Secretariat in Chennai, a venture designed to safeguard the State Animal.
This project, funded with ₹25 crore, seeks to enhance knowledge of the Nilgiri Tahr’s population, distribution, and habitat, reintroduce the species to its historical environments, address immediate threats, raise public awareness, and establish eco-tourism activities at specific locations.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) initiated a pilot program for the wholesale segment of its central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the interbank call money market.
As per media reports, nine banks, including four public sector banks and five private sector banks, are participating in the e-rupee call money pilot. This is the second use case of testing wholesale CBDC, the first being the government securities market introduced in November last year.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal conferred the National Intellectual Property Awards at the National Intellectual Property Conference 2023 held in New Delhi.
The Union Minister informed that India has improved its ranking in the global innovation index from 81st position in 2014 to 40th position this year.

Positive cases of African Swine Fever among the pigs have been reported in Manipur. Samples of the Pigs reared in Imphal were sent to the North Eastern Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory for testing. The samples were confirmed positive.
Following confirmation of African Swine Fever, as a containment measure of the disease, the Manipur Government has restricted the movement of Pigs from the affected area.
