Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty earned India’s first-ever badminton gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.
Satwik and Chirag, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, had won a world championships bronze last year. The duo then became the first Indians to win a BWF Super 1000 tournament when it clinched the Indonesia Open in June.

The Reserve Bank of India conducts the Open Market Operations (OMO) sales of government securities.
RBI recently made an announcement regarding the possibility of conducting OMO sales to regulate liquidity within the financial system. The central bank did not provide a specific timeline for this proposal. As a result, the yield on the 10-year benchmark government bonds surged by 12 basis points to reach 7.34 percent.

India has crossed the 100- medal mark for the first time in Asian Games this year. India gave its best-ever performance at the Asian Games this year with 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze.
With its medal tally at 107, India is ranked fourth in the list. China topped the table with 383 medals including 201 gold medals, while Japan and Korea got 188 and 190 medals respectively.

NLC India Limited, a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) operating under the Ministry of Coal, has secured a contract to develop an 810 MW Solar PV project in collaboration with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Nigam Limited (RRVUNL).
NLCIL has achieved full allocation of the 810 MW project, which was put up for tender by RRVUNL in December 2022, to contribute to the development of RRVUNL’s massive 2000 MW Ultra Mega Solar Park located in Pugal Tehsil, Bikaner District, Rajasthan.

The government has updated the regulations for the Rs 6,238 crore production-linked incentive scheme (PLI) for white goods.
Under the new guidelines, companies chosen for the program must provide a certificate from a registered cost accountant, verifying related party sales and determining the arm’s length price in order to qualify for the scheme’s benefits. The white goods PLI program is designed to encourage domestic manufacturing of air conditioners and LED lights.

Notes:
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Bima Vahak) Guidelines, 2023 shall come into force from the date of launch of Bima Vistaar. It is a comprehensive Insurance product which will be issued in due course.
The main objective of Bima Vahak is to establish women-centric distribution channel that is focused on enhancing insurance inclusion and creating awareness. As per IRDAI, Bima Vahaks have to be deployed in each gram panchayat before December 31, 2024.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh presided over the launch of the Global Health Innovation Fellowship, which is supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
This initiative is aimed at fostering medical technology startups and nurturing innovation among the youth. The DBT and WIPO fellowships will be executed at various DBT Bio-design centers across the country.

The British government approved one of the UK’s largest new oil and gas initiatives, the North Sea Rosebank field.
Though the Rosebank development has faced public backlash amid concerns over its environmental impact, the Rishi Sunak administration asserts that this project is crucial for ensuring the country’s energy requirements.

An international, high-speed passenger ferry service between Nagapattinam on the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu and Kankesanthurai in the northern province of Sri Lanka, has resumed, after a gap of nearly four decades.
The high-speed craft (HSC) Cheriyapani, embarked on its journey from the Nagapattinam port with 50 passengers and 12 crew members.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently inaugurated the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR) in Kohima.
It is the first medical college in the northeastern state. NIMSR, Kohima is affiliated with Nagaland University.
