This event commemorates the 13th-century resistance by a mother-daughter duo against the local rulers who had imposed taxes on the Koya people. The Jatara, or pilgrimage features rituals conducted by Koya priests in adherence to their customs and traditions.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation in India has introduced the Drone (Amendment) Rules 2023, which eliminate the mandatory need for a passport to enhance and simplify drone operations in the country.
Instead, individuals can provide government-issued identity proof and address proof if they do not possess a passport, as per the Ministry of Civil Aviation statement.

According to this report, between the years 2016 and 2021, more than 43 million children were forced to relocate due to floods, storms, droughts, and wildfires.

The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) issued an interim order, stating that over-the-top (OTT) platforms are not under the jurisdiction of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Instead, they are regulated by the Information Technology Rules of 2021, which were notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

Ministry of Textiles marked World Cotton Day 2023 on October 7. The theme of this year is “Making cotton fair and sustainable for all, from farm to fashion”.
Cotton Corporation of India launches “Bale Identification and Traceability System”, using Blockchain Technology. Each cotton bale carries a QR code that allows easy tracking of its original source, processing factory, storage details, and associated cotton quality information, including timestamps.

A recent seismic event in western Afghanistan, marked by a potent 6.3 magnitude earthquake and subsequent strong aftershocks, has resulted in the loss of over 2,000 lives and left more than 9,000 individuals injured.
Afghanistan, situated amidst mountain ranges, has a rich history of experiencing powerful earthquakes, particularly in the rugged Hindu Kush region adjacent to Pakistan.

The Mushk Budji rice variety of Jammu and Kashmir has been at the brink of extinction primarily because of its vulnerability to diseases and its limited yield potential.
The authorities in Jammu and Kashmir are planning to revive the cultivation of aromatic rice variety known as Mushk Budji and expand its cultivation to cover an area of 5,000 hectares.

India has crossed the 100- medal mark for the first time in Asian Games this year. India gave its best-ever performance at the Asian Games this year with 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze.
With its medal tally at 107, India is ranked fourth in the list. China topped the table with 383 medals including 201 gold medals, while Japan and Korea got 188 and 190 medals respectively.

CHAKRAVAT 2023 is the annual joint HADR exercise that involves the participation of all three Services, Paramilitary Forces, as well as several disaster response organisations, NGOs, academic institutions and international organisations.
The 2023 edition of the event will enhance collaboration among national stakeholders and include participation from eight countries in the Indian Ocean Region.
