The Flight Test Vehicle Abort Mission-1 (TV-D1) is a part of the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) human space mission, Gaganyaan.
The purpose of the mission is to demonstrate the ability to launch humans into low earth orbit and safely bring them back to Earth. The TV-D1 is a single-stage liquid rocket that carries the Crew Module (CM) and Crew Escape Systems (CES).

American gymnast Simone Biles won her 21st world title with all-around gold at the World Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.
Biles is now the world’s most decorated gymnast ever with 34 medals across world championships and Olympics.  She took a two-year break to take care of her mental health.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to keep key interest rates, projected economic growth, and inflation rates unchanged.
The RBI’s monetary policy committee (MPC) unanimously decided to keep the policy repo rate unchanged at 6.5%. This is the fourth straight time the RBI has maintained the status quo.  The RBI last raised the benchmark repo rate to 6.5% on February 8, 2023. RBI has also decided to extend the payments infrastructure development fund (PIDF) scheme by two years till December 31, 2025.

The Indian men’s hockey team qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics after defeating Japan 5-1 in the final of the Asian Games.
India’s captain, Harmanpreet, scored two goals, while Manpreet, Amit Rohidas and Abhishek scored one goal each. India’s win reclaimed the Asian Games gold medal after nine years. India has played 17 matches without a loss, as of now.

The Green War Room was inaugurated recently by the Delhi government. It aims to address air pollution in the national capital by continuously monitoring and executing the Winter Action Plan.
In addition, the government has also started deploying 530 water sprinklers to prevent dust pollution at 13 hotspots, and 385 teams will check pollution certificates of vehicles and prevent the plying of overage cars.

Recently, the Union Cabinet gave its nod to establish a Central Tribal University in Telangana through an amendment to the Central Universities Act, 2009.
The Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University at Mulugu District in Telangana, will be established with a funding of Rs. 889.07 crore.

Russian nuclear fuel was recently delivered to Bangladesh’s Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).
A shipment of uranium was delivered to Dhaka from Russia via a dedicated air cargo transport, and it was subsequently securely transported to the nuclear power plant site by road the following day.

2023 is on track to become the warmest year ever recorded, and there are concerns that 2024 may surpass it.
As per the recent data from the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service, September 2023 has set a new record as the hottest month globally since 1940, marking an 83-year high.

The Assam biorefinery is a joint venture between Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), a public sector oil company in Assam and its Finnish partners Chempolis and Fortum.
This biorefinery, with a total investment of 40 billion rupees, is anticipated to have an annual output of 50,000 tonnes of ethanol, 16,000 tonnes of furfural, and 11,000 tonnes of acetic acid.

The Wildlife Trust of India has identified the dancing frogs found exclusively in the Western Ghats as the most endangered amphibian genus in India.
It is also the fifth most threatened genus in the world with 92 per cent of its species in the threatened category. The organisation made the analysis based on the second edition of the Global Amphibian Assessment, which was released recently.
