On October 21, 1959, ten Indian policemen were killed during an attack by Chinese troops in the Hot Springs region close to Ladakh.

Jaxay Shah, former Chairman of CREDAI has been appointed as the Chairman of Quality Council of India (QCI) for a period of three years.
The incumbent Chairman succeeds Adil Zainulbhai, the former McKinsey India Chief who served as the Chairman of QCI for a period of eight years.

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has directed the Vice Chancellors (VC) of nine universities in Kerala to tender their resignation, citing a Supreme Court judgment.
There has been an ongoing tussle between Kerala Governor and the Pinarayi Vijayan-led state government. After the VCs approached the Kerala High Court challenging the order, the court has now ruled that they can continue in their posts.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has launched  ‘Electronic Gold Receipt (EGR)’ on its platform, to help in efficient and transparent price discovery of Gold.
It introduced two new products of 995 and 999 purity during the Muhurat trading on Diwali. The trading will be in multiples of 1 gram and deliveries in multiples of 10 gram and 100 gram. The exchange recently received final approval from SEBI for introducing EGR.

The Cricket Association for the Blind in India announced former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh as their brand ambassador for the 3rd T20 World Cup for the Blind.
The World Cup matches will be held in the month of December. The participating countries in the World Cup for the Blind are India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

‘2022 NDC Synthesis Report’ from United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) shows countries are bending the curve of global greenhouse gas emissions downward.
It also warns that these efforts remain insufficient to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius by the end of the century.

The United States is set to retrieve its older HAWK air defence equipment to send to Ukraine which is facing a heavy attack from Russian drone-fired and cruise missiles.
HAWK, short for ‘Homing All the Way Killer,’ entered service with the US Army in 1959, during the Vietnam war. The HAWK interceptor missiles would be an upgrade to the Stinger missile system. The US sent the shoulder-fired anti-aircraft Stingers to Ukraine early in the war.

The Chief Ministers of eight states and home ministers and deputy chief ministers of 16 states participated in the two-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ (brainstorming session) on internal security.
The session is chaired by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Chintan Shivir’ of Home Ministers of States via video conferencing. The aim of the session is to prepare an action plan to implement ‘Vision 2047’ and ‘Panch Pran’.

Public sector lender Indian Bank has rolled out six new digital initiatives under ‘Project WAVE’ for enhancing customer experience on its digital platform.
Indian Bank, along with Universal Sompo General Insurance will provide online vehicle and health insurance through mobile banking app IndOASIS.

The West Bengal government’s Lakshmir Bhandar scheme has bagged the SKOCH award in the women and child development category.
The West Bengal government launched the scheme in August 2021 to provide financial support to a woman head of a family in the age group of 25-60 years. Under the scheme, Rs 500 is given eery month to women in the general caste category and around Rs 1,000 per month to women in the SC and ST categories.
