The two road widening projects including one from Mana to Mana Pass, shall provide last-mile all-weather road connectivity to our border areas. The ropeways, which are being developed in the state, provide environment-friendly mode of transport.

The Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC) has approved genetically modified (GM) mustard for commercial cultivation,
Technically called Dhara Mustard Hybrid-11 (DMH-11), it was developed by the Centre for Genetic Manipulation of Crop Plants of Delhi University and the National Dairy Development Board and partly funded by the department of biotechnology.

The Indian Government has officially restricted the use of the widely used herbicide, glyphosate, fearing risk to human and animal health.
After this announcement, glyphosate will be applied only through pest control operators (PCOs). Glyphosate has been majorly used in tea plantations in India. They are also licensed to use deadly chemicals for treating pests such as rodents.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launches SAFAL (Simplified Application for Agricultural Loans) common credit portal for farmers.
The SAFAL application for agricultural loans will enable farmers and agri-entrepreneurs to access over 300 term loan products from over 40 partner banks. It is the country’s first online agricultural credit facilitation portal.

The Union Ministry of Telecommunication unveiled new policy reforms for satellite communications services.
It aims to ease procedures and streamline clearances to fast-track the rollout of Satcom across the country, especially in remote areas. Union Telecom Minister said that the current pace of tower deployment needs to increase from 2,500 towers a week to 10,000 towers per week.

Indian scientists at the Mumbai-based ‘Indian Institute Of Geomagnetism’ have developed an indigenous Overhauser Magnetometer.
It is one of the most accurate magnetometers extensively used by all magnetic observatories around the world. The sensor installed at Alibag Magnetic Observatory (MO) can reduce India’s dependence on commercial OVH magnetometers. They are being imported by India so far.

The National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has released the press note on Employment Outlook of India.
The report covers the period from September 2017 to August 2022. It uses information on number of subscribers of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) Scheme, the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme and the National Pension Scheme (NPS). As per the report, 5,81,56,630 new subscribers joined the EPF Scheme.

India’s Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya participated in the second G20 Health Ministers Meet in Bali, Indonesia.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the progress and way forward on priorities in the healthcare sector. The members also discussed on building global health resilience and the Financial Intermediary Fund.

The 9th annual India Sweden Innovation Day 2022 concluded successfully. The event was organised in association with the Embassy of India to Sweden and Latvia, Sweden-India Business Council (SIBC), and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The event was themed ‘Accelerating India Sweden’s Green Transition’ and it was attended by over 1,000 participants from across the globe. India Sweden Innovation Day 2022 was hosted by India Unlimited.
