Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Medical Device Park at Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh (HP)
The park is to be built at a cost of about Rs 350 crore. Himachal Pradesh is one of the three states that have been selected for the Bulk Drugs Park. Himachal Pradesh is also one of the four states that have been selected for Medical Devices Park and the Nalagarh Medical Device Park is part of this.

Indian Navy signed an agreement on White Shipping Information Exchange with the Royal New Zealand Navy.
As per the statement of the Ministry of Defence, the MoU promotes greater transparency in the Maritime Domain. The agreement was signed during the visit of Indian Navy chief Admiral R Hari Kumar visit to New Zealand.

NTPC and GE Gas Power signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for feasibility to demonstrate hydrogen co-firing blended with natural gas.
The demonstration will be undertaken in GE’s 9E gas turbines installed at NTPC’s Kawas combined-cycle gas power plant in Gujarat. The two companies will jointly explore the pathways to reduce CO2 emissions from Kawas gas power plant.

The ‘World Smile Day’ is observed on the first Friday of October every year. World Smile Day was first observed in 1999 by a famous artist named Harvey Ball, an artist who created the smiley face in 1963.
The theme of World Smile Day remains the same every year ‘Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile’. The objective behind observing Smile Day was to dedicate a day in a year to smiles and kind acts.

World Bank recently released a new report, titled “Poverty and Shared Prosperity 2022: Correcting Course”.
As per the report, higher food and energy prices hindered a quick recovery after COVID-19, which has been the biggest setback to global poverty alleviation in decades. Extreme poverty is concentrated in sub-Saharan African countries, which has a poverty rate of about 35 % and accounts for 60 % of all people in extreme poverty.

India’s leading cueist, Pankaj Advani has claimed his 25th World Title, as he won the 2022 IBSF World Billiards Championship in Kuala Lumpur.
He defeated compatriot Sourav Kothari 4-0 in the final to defend the title for the fifth time in a row. At present, he is the first Indian to win the most gold medals in world championships across all sports.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared Modhera, a village in Mehsana district of Gujarat, as India’s first solar-powered village.
Modhera, is also associated with the Sun Temple. According to the Gujarat government, over 1000 solar panels have been installed on village houses, generating electricity for the villagers. They will be provided with solar electricity at zero cost.

The World Post Day is celebrated to mark the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Berne in 1874 on October 9.
The Indian Department of Post celebrates ‘National Postal Week’ from October 9 to October 13 this year. India’s government-operated postal system, India Post, is the world’s largest postal system in the world. The activities conducted will be in line with the year’s theme, ‘Post for Planet, moving a step ahead.’

Justice Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud is set to take over as the 50th Chief Justice of India (CJI) after the present Chief Justice UU Lalit formally recommended him as his successor.
As per the procedure, the senior most judge Supreme Court judge serves as the Chief Justice of India and the government seeks a recommendation from the CJI to name their successor. Justice DY Chandrachud was part of benches that decriminalised homosexuality, decriminalised adultery, and allowed women in the Sabrimala shrine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated Phase I of the Mahakal Lok Project to the nation at Shri Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
The total cost of the entire project is around ₹850 crore. The Mahakal Path contains 108 stambhs (pillars) which depict Anand Tandav Swaroop (Dance form) of Lord Shiva.
