The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out searches against cyber criminals involved in financial crimes at 105 locations across India.
Named as ‘Operation Chakra’, the action was taken after inputs from Interpol, FBI, Royal Canadian Mountain Police and Australian Federal Police. A large amount of digital evidence, cash and gold have been recovered during these searches.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) slashed its forecast for global trade volume growth to 1 per cent from 3.4 per cent estimated earlier.
The Geneva-based body said that world trade may lose momentum in the second half of 2022 and remain subdued in 2023. WTO revised upward its merchandise trade growth forecast for 2022, to 3.5 per cent from its April estimate of 3 per cent.

The Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) invited bids for selling the stakes in IDBI Bank to facilitate its privatisation.
The potential investor should have a minimum net worth of Rs 22,500 crore and must report net profit in three out of the past five years. The government and LIC hold 94.72 per cent stake in IDBI Bank. After sale, the combined shareholding of LIC and Government will come down to 34 per cent.

World Migratory Bird Day is commemorated twice a year on the second Saturday of May and the second Saturday of October.
On the second Saturday in October, people all around Central and South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean commemorate World Migratory Bird Day.

The Union Government has appointed a commission to consider the possibility of granting SC status to the persons who have historically belonged to the Scheduled Castes but have converted to religions other than Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism.
The three-member Commission is headed by former Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan. The Cimmission has been asked to submit report in two years.

The United Nations children’s agency (UNICEF) has announced in its recent report that more than one million people have been displaced in Myanmar since the military coup last year.
The Southeast Asian nation has been in turmoil since the military ousted Aung San Suu Kyi’s government last year. The report added that more than half of those forced to flee are in the country’s northwest Sagaing region.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry has notified the establishment of the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups (CGSS).
The scheme aims for providing credit guarantees to loans extended by Scheduled Commercial Banks, Non-Banking Financial Companies and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) registered Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared Modhera, a village in Mehsana district of Gujarat, as India’s first solar-powered village.
Modhera, is also associated with the Sun Temple. According to the Gujarat government, over 1000 solar panels have been installed on village houses, generating electricity for the villagers. They will be provided with solar electricity at zero cost.

As per a year-long study, presence of eight leopards in the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary has been confirmed. This is seen as an indicator of its thriving ecosystem.
The sanctuary did not record any leopard sighting for many decades after 1940. In 2019, the Delhi forest department reported fresh sightings of leopard pug marks and scats in the sanctuary. The study has also shed light on the presence of mammals such as striped hyena, jungle cat, golden jackal, Indian hare, Indian boar, black buck and hog deer among others.

According to new research by Harvard University astrophysicists, both the first and second interstellar meteors, IM1 and IM2, are outliers in material strength and may have originated in supernova explosions.
IM1 was detected by U.S. government sensors in 2014, identified as interstellar object candidate in 2019, and was confirmed in 2022. The second interstellar meteor, IM2 was identified in data from the NASA’s Center for NEO Studies (CNEOS) fireball catalog.
