Union Tourism Ministry has recently released a report which revealed that Maharashtra registered the most number of foreign tourist visits with 1.26 million in 2021.
It is followed by Tamil Nadu with 1.23 million foreign tourist visits respectively. The number of foreign tourist arrivals decreased by 44 per cent to 1.52 million, during 2021. India ranked 54th in the global Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) in 2021.

Notes:
The Nobel Prize for Physics 2022 is being shared by three scientists, Alain Aspect, John F Clauser and Anton Zeilinger, for their work on quantum mechanics.
The three scientists conducted a series of experiments on entangled quantum states, where two separate particles behave like a single unit. Their results will have implications in the fields of quantum computers, quantum networks and secure quantum encrypted communication.

Australian telecom giant Optus said personal information and form of identification of 1.2 million customers was compromised in the recent cyber attack.

It is considered as one of the biggest cyber breaches the country has faced. The breach affected 10 million customers, equivalent to around 40% of Australia’s population. The federal government has released changes to telecommunications laws, after the breach.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das launched a new SupTech initiative named ‘DAKSH’.
The Reserve Bank’s Advanced Supervisory Monitoring System aims to make the Supervisory processes more robust. DAKSH is a web-based end-to-end workflow application through which RBI shall monitor compliance requirements to improve the compliance culture in Supervised Entities (SEs) like Banks, NBFCs.

The Reserve Bank of India has approved the appointment of Prashant Kumar as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD &CEO) of Yes Bank for three years.
Earlier, the alternate Board of the private sector lender recommended to the Reserve Bank of India for its approval for the appointment. Before joining Yes Bank, Prashant Kumar was Deputy Managing Director & CFO of the State Bank of India (SBI).

The government has approved the creation of a Weapon System branch for officers in the Indian Air Force (IAF).
As per Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari, this new branch will lead to unification of all weapon system operators under one entity and this will save Rs. 3,400 crore for the government exchequer. This is the first time since Independence that a new operational branch is being created.

Power Foundation of India in association with Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) has organised a campaign to create awareness on Agni Tattva under LiFE – Lifestyle for environment.
The first conference of the Agni campaign was organised in Leh, on the theme of ‘Sustainability and Culture’. Power Foundation of India is a Society formed under the aegis of the Ministry of Power and supported by leading CPSEs. It is involved in areas of advocacy and research.

On 9 October 1946, the Indian government had established the Indian Foreign Service for India’s diplomatic, consular and commercial representation overseas.
After independence, there was a transition of the Foreign and Political Department into the new Ministry of External Affairs. To mark the occasion, the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Day is celebrated on October 9 every year.

As part of its Education 4.0 India initiative, the World Economic Forum has launched a new ‘Education 4.0 India Report’.
The report deliberates on how digital and other technologies can address learning gaps and make education accessible to all. The report is the result of collaboration between the World Economic Forum, UNICEF and YuWaah.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated Phase I of the Mahakal Lok Project to the nation at Shri Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
The total cost of the entire project is around ₹850 crore. The Mahakal Path contains 108 stambhs (pillars) which depict Anand Tandav Swaroop (Dance form) of Lord Shiva.
