As a part of the Skill India Mission to boost career opportunities and practical training, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is organizing Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Melas (PMNAM).
In the month of October, PMNAMS are to be held across 280 locations in 28 states and Union Territories.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari launched Toyota’s first of its kind pilot project on Flexi-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FFV-SHEV) in India.
The vehicles are said to run on 100 per cent petrol as well as 20 to 100 per cent blended ethanol and electric power.

The Cabinet has approved 22,000 crore rupees as one time grant to Public Sector Undertakings, Oil Marketing Companies for losses in Domestic LPG.
Since the prices of LPG have risen globally up to 300 per cent, this grant will held the companied to ensure unhindered domestic LPG supplies. The compensation will be given to the three companies – Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation.

National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) said it has acquired a 5.6 per cent stake in the Union Government’s Open Network for Digital Commerce for Rs 10 crore.
Leading depository NSDL invested an amount of Rs 10 crore under the private placement route. ONDC is an initiative of the Commerce Ministry to create an open public digital infrastructure.

World Bank extended an unconditional loan of USD 250 million for SALT project in Andhra Pradesh. The Supporting Andhra’s Learning Transformation (SALT) project aims to improve the quality of learning for over 50 lakh students in the State.
It aims for training teachers, facilitating State-level assessment and establishing an effective education management and information system.

India hosted the ‘WADA Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) Symposium- 2022’ in New Delhi for the first time. It was organised by National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) and National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL).
Government of India has recently enacted the anti-doping statute called the National Anti-Doping Act, 2022.

The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is observed each year on October 13. The day is aimed to raise awareness about and acknowledge the progress in preventing the loss of lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure during various disasters.
The theme of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2022 is ‘Early Warning for All’, which is Target G of the Sendai Framework. The ‘Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030’ includes concrete actions to protect development gains from the risk of disaster.

The Himachal Pradesh State government has started a new scheme named HIMCAD to bridge the gap between the irrigation potential created and the irrigation potential to be utilized.
This will provide end-to-end connectivity of farmers’ fields for better water conservation, crop diversification and integrated farming. Under the scheme, an area of 15,242 hectares has been brought under Command Area Development (CAD) activities.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the inaugural run of the new Vande Bharat Express from Amb Andaura, Una of Himachal Pradesh to New Delhi.
It will be the fourth Vande Bharat train to be introduced in the country. The new design of Vande Bharat Express has a photo-catalytic ultraviolet air purification system for air purification. It is equipped with indigenously developed Train Collision Avoidance System – KAVACH.

Notes:
NGLV (Next-Gen Launch Vehicle) is going to replace the current PSLV (Polar Satellite launch Vehicle) in near future. NGLV is a three – staged heavy lift reusable vehicle with the payload capability of 10,000 kg to Geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) and 20,000kg to low earth orbit (LEO). It will have a semi-cryogenic propulsion for booster stages to make it cost efficient.
