SEBI has granted its in-principle approval to Bombay Stock Exchange *BSE) for introducing a social stock exchange as a separate segment.
Social stock exchange will enable the listing of non-profit organisations and for-profit social enterprises that are engaged in 15 broad eligible social activities approved by the market regulator. These social entities can raise funds through equity, issue of zero-coupons zero-principal bonds, mutual funds, social impact funds and development impact bonds.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated a Water Sports Center in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.
The first of its kind in Himachal Pradesh, Water Sports Centre has been jointly initiated by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).  The centre will be dedicated to training athletes in water sports like Rowing, Canoeing and Kayaking.

‘World Mental Health Day’ is marked every year on October 10 to raise awareness about mental health around the world.
Every year since 2013, the World Health Organization (WHO) has organized a global campaign for World Mental Health Day. The theme for World Mental Health Day 2022 is ‘Make mental health for all a global priority’.

The World Post Day is celebrated to mark the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Berne in 1874 on October 9.
The Indian Department of Post celebrates ‘National Postal Week’ from October 9 to October 13 this year. India’s government-operated postal system, India Post, is the world’s largest postal system in the world. The activities conducted will be in line with the year’s theme, ‘Post for Planet, moving a step ahead.’

The Reserve Bank raised the minimum capital requirement for setting up an asset reconstruction company (ARC) to Rs 300 crore from the existing Rs 100 crore.
The decision is aimed to strengthen the securitisation sector which plays a vital role in the management of distressed financial assets. The existing ARCs are given a glide path to meet the minimum net owned fund (NOF) requirement till April 2026.

Notes:
Cabinet approved extensive amendments to the Multi State Cooperative Societies Act (MSCS). The Act was last amended in 2002.
The amendments make the functioning of the board of cooperatives transparent with simple registration, reservation of seats for women, scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates in boards. India, at present, has nearly 800,000 cooperative societies of which around 1,600 are Multi State Cooperative Societies.

The seventh edition of IBSAMAR, a joint multinational maritime exercise is to be conducted among Indian, Brazilian and South African Navies in South Africa.
The Indian Navy is represented by the Teg class guided missile frigate, INS Tarkash, a Chetak helicopter and the personnel from the Marine Commando Force (MARCOS). The previous edition of IBSAMAR (IBSAMAR VI) was conducted off Simons Town, South Africa in 2018.

NGLV (Next-Gen Launch Vehicle) is going to replace the current PSLV (Polar Satellite launch Vehicle) in near future. NGLV is a three – staged heavy lift reusable vehicle with the payload capability of 10,000 kg to Geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) and 20,000kg to low earth orbit (LEO). It will have a semi-cryogenic propulsion for booster stages to make it cost efficient.

The 6th Summit of Conference of Interaction & Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held at Astana, Kazakhstan. The minister of state for External affairs Meenakshi Lekhi lead the Indian delegation at the conference. CICA is a body that works towards building peace, security & stability in Asia. It was established in 1992 by the, first president of Kazakhstan at the 47th session of UNGA.

Notes:
President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated two passengers train, one of which is going to connect Tripura and Manipur for the first time. Jan Shatabdi express will connect Tripura’s capital Agartala & Khongsang in Manipur, and the other passenger train will link Agartala and Kolkata via Guwahati.
