‘World Economic Outlook’ is the flagship report of the International Monetary Fund.  In its 2022 edition update, IMF has projected that global growth will slow from 6 percent in 2021 to 3.2 percent in 2022 and 2.7 percent in 2023.
IMF also said that this will be the weakest growth since 2001, except for the global financial crisis and the acute phase of the pandemic. IMF also said that India will be the fastest-growing large economy in the world, after it cut India’s GDP growth forecast to 6.8 percent for FY 2023.

Notes:
The government has accorded infrastructure status to Data centers with more than 5 megawatt capacity of IT load.
The move helps data centre companies to get easier access to institutional credit at lower rates, and attract foreign investments. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made an announcement in the budget speech for 2022-23, that data centres will be granted infrastructure status.

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023 has been recently released. University of Oxford, UK has topped the rankings list for the 7th time consecutively.
It is followed by University of Harvard (US) and University of Cambridge (UK) at second and third places. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has retained the top position among Indian institutes and it is placed in the 251-300 band.

The 6th Summit of Conference of Interaction & Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held at Astana, Kazakhstan. The minister of state for External affairs Meenakshi Lekhi lead the Indian delegation at the conference. CICA is a body that works towards building peace, security & stability in Asia. It was established in 1992 by the, first president of Kazakhstan at the 47th session of UNGA.

Lovlina Borgohain an Indian boxer & Olympics bronze medallist won Gold medal in 75Kg category after defeating Sweety Boora 5-0 on final day of National Games. She will represent India in Asian Games next year.

VINCOV-19, India’s first antidote and a projected cure against SARS-CoV-2 virus is now ready for market authorisation and simultaneous phase-3 clinical trials. The drug, a joint effort of the University of Hyderabad (UoH), the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and immunological company VINS Bioproducts Limited, recently passed the phase-2 trials. It was conducted in over 200 participants across multiple centres in India.

Recently, India finished fifth with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championship Shotgun in Osijek, Croatia.

The Global Hunger Index scores are based on four indicators — Undernourishment, Child Stunting, Child Wasting and Child Mortality. China and Kuwait are the Asian countries that has ranked at the top of the list. South Asian region has the highest hunger level, highest child stunting rate and highest child wasting rate in the world. 17 countries have been collectively ranked between 1 and 17 with a score of less than 5. Yemen is at the last position in the Global Hunger Index 2022 in the world.

After Coal India Ltd has signed MoUs with BHEL, IOCL, and GAIL (India) Ltd— Government has planned to establish proposed surface coal gasification (SCG) projects in West Bengal, Odisha, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. The proposed SCG projects will be established at an aggregated estimated cost of Rs. 35,000 crores.

During the festival of 3rd World Kuchipudi Natyotsavam, Dr Vempati China Satyam Lifetime Achievement Award would be presented to Bala Kondala Rao, and Kumari Lanka Annapooma Devi Lifetime Achievement Award would be given to Vanaja Uday. Padmaja Reddy will receive the Dr. Sobha Naidu Lifetime Achievement Award, while Vempati Venkat Seva Puraskar will be presented to Srikant Raghupatruni.
