The Global Hunger Index scores are based on four indicators — Undernourishment, Child Stunting, Child Wasting and Child Mortality. China and Kuwait are the Asian countries that has ranked at the top of the list. South Asian region has the highest hunger level, highest child stunting rate and highest child wasting rate in the world. 17 countries have been collectively ranked between 1 and 17 with a score of less than 5. Yemen is at the last position in the Global Hunger Index 2022 in the world.

ISRO chairman Sreedhara Panicker Somanath made the announcement of the new NGLV launch during a press conference on the sidelines of ‘Engineers Conclave 2022’ at the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) in Valiyamala. NGLV will be cost-efficient three-stage reusable heavy-lift vehicle with a payload capacity of ten tonnes to Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO). NGLV is using semi-cryogenic technology which will be both efficient and cost-effective.

Polysilicon, a high-purity form of silicon, is a key raw material in the solar photovoltaic (PV) supply chain. To produce solar modules, polysilicon is melted at high temperatures to form ingots, which are then sliced into wafers and processed into solar cells and solar modules. By 2026, India is looking at the capacities of 38 Gw in Polysilicons, 56 Gw in Ingot and Wafers, 70-80 Gw in cells and 90-100 Gw in modules.

The Day is led by The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the theme for 2022 is Leave NO ONE behind.

As per a recent study conducted by industry body Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and consultancy firm EY, India may attract USD 475 billion in FDI over next five years.
The study also found that majority of multinational companies (MNCs) operating in India feel that the country’s economy will perform well over the next 3-5 years, backed by the strong momentum in domestic consumption, services, digital economy and infrastructure.

British Prime Minister Liz Truss has announced that she will step down from the position leader of the Conservative Party after her policies triggered economic turmoil and divided the party.
Truss, who has been prime minister for just 45 days, also announced that she will remain as prime minister and party leader until a successor is chosen.

Sankarasubramanian K has been designated Principal Scientist of the Aditya-L1 mission, as per the Indian Space Research Organisation.
Aditya-L1 is the first observatory-class space-based solar mission from India. ISRO also noted that the spacecraft will be placed in a halo orbit around the first Lagrange point, L1, of the Sun-Earth system.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently laid the foundation stone of various connectivity projects at Mana village of Chamoli district in the state of Uttarakhand.
The two road widening projects including one from Mana to Mana Pass, shall provide last-mile all-weather road connectivity to our border areas. The ropeways, which are being developed in the state, provide environment-friendly mode of transport.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the US Grand Prix Title in 2022. Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton was denied his first win of the 2022 Formula 1 campaign.
The 25-year-old, who was crowned the World Champion at Suzuka earlier this month, picked up his thirteenth win of the campaign. At present, he has equalled the highest wins recorded in a season with Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher, with three rounds still to go.

Under the Strengthening & Augmentation of Municipal Revenue for Infrastructure Development in Delhi (SAMRIDDHI) 2022-23 scheme, the NCR people will be able to pay the principal amount of the current and pending tax of past five years for residential properties.
