Madhya Pradesh Wildlife Board approved a new reserve for tigers of Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR), which is to be called Durgavati Tiger Reserve.
One-fourth of the 2,339 square kilometres new tiger reserve will get submerged due to the linking of the Ken-Betwa Rivers. A green corridor linking PTR with Durgavati will be developed for the natural movement of the tiger to the new reserve.

The ‘Climate Transparency Report 2022’ was released by a partnership of climate analysis organisations in G20 countries.
As per the report, countries most affected by income losses in these sectors were India (5.4% of GDP), Indonesia (1.6% of GDP), and Saudi Arabia (1% of GDP). Losses to earnings from heat-related labour capacity reduction were the highest in services, manufacturing, agriculture, and construction.

The next edition of the Indian wind industry’s biennial exhibition-cum-conference, Windergy, is to be held in Chennai, next year.
As the state of Tamil Nadu has a strong presence of the industry’s supply chain, the event will be held at the Chennai Trade Center.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the deep depression over Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclone.
The cyclone, named Sitrang by Thailand, is very likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm with wind speed reaching 90 to 100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph. If realised, this will be the first cyclone to develop in the Bay of Bengal in October since 2018, as the last October cyclone in the Bay of Bengal was Titli in 2018.

World Polio Day is observed every year on October 24 to raise awareness about the polio vaccination and eradication of polio.
The day highlights the efforts of the frontline workers who work to provide vaccines in polio-hit countries. This year, the overarching theme of World Polio Day is ‘A healthier future for mothers and children’. World Polio Day was established in 1985 to commemorate the birth of Jonas Salk, who was the lead researcher of the team that developed the first Polio vaccine

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the US Grand Prix Title in 2022. Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton was denied his first win of the 2022 Formula 1 campaign.
The 25-year-old, who was crowned the World Champion at Suzuka earlier this month, picked up his thirteenth win of the campaign. At present, he has equalled the highest wins recorded in a season with Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher, with three rounds still to go.

The 27th annual UN meeting on climate, COP27 (Conference of Parties) will take place in Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt from 6th to 18th November.
This will be the fifth time a Climate Conference is being hosted in Africa. COP27 will focus on three main areas, reducing emissions, helping countries to prepare and deal with climate change and securing technical support and funding for developing countries for climate activities.

The Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC) has approved genetically modified (GM) mustard for commercial cultivation,
Technically called Dhara Mustard Hybrid-11 (DMH-11), it was developed by the Centre for Genetic Manipulation of Crop Plants of Delhi University and the National Dairy Development Board and partly funded by the department of biotechnology.

‘2022 NDC Synthesis Report’ from United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) shows countries are bending the curve of global greenhouse gas emissions downward.
It also warns that these efforts remain insufficient to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius by the end of the century.
