After the recent Monetary Policy Committee Meeting of RBI, the Central Bank cut the 2022-23 growth projection to 7 per cent from its previous estimate of 7.2 per cent.
RBI also made the fourth rate hike in this financial year, as the Repo rate was hiked by 50 bps to 5.9%. The standing deposit facility (SDF) rate stands adjusted to 5.65 per cent and the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate to 6.15 per cent.

Haryana has announced that two international firms will be hired to develop the world’s largest jungle safari park spread across 10,000 acres in the Aravalli range.
The proposed project will be jointly developed by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change and the Haryana government. At present, the largest curated safari park outside Africa is in Sharjah, which spans 2,000 acres.

October 1 is observed as the International Day of Older Persons across the world every year. It was introduced by the United Nations General Assembly with an aim of honouring the contribution of older persons and focussing on the problems they face.
This year, the theme for the International Day of Older Persons is ‘Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World’.

The Bannerman’s Turaco, known in the Oku language as the Fen, is a bird deep cultural value for the people in Cameroon.
It has a heavy yellow bill with a dark red culmen and exposed nostrils. It also has a loud, distinctive call that can be heard up to 1 kilometre. As per experts, the bird, which is already under IUCN List of Threatened Species, could disappear entirely, if forest disappears. The number of birds estimated to be 1,500, are falling due to habitat destruction and tradition of hunting birds for feathers.

The Andhra Pradesh government notified fresh safety guidelines to institutionalise preventive measures to check accidental leakage of toxic gases and dangerous chemicals in factories.
The new guidelines were issued under the AP Fire Service Act, 1999. In May 2020, leak of styrene vapour from a Polymer plant near Visakhapatnam left 12 persons dead and around 1,000 people sick. There was a leak of poisonous gas from a apparel manufacturing unit two times this year.

The Telangana state government has introduced the ‘Aasara’ pensions, with an aim of ensuring secured life for all the poor people across the states.
It is a welfare scheme of pensions to old people, widows, physically disabled and beedi workers of the state.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk presented a prototype humanoid robot named ‘Optimus’ that shares artificial intelligence software and sensors with its cars’ Autopilot driver assistance features.
The Optimus robot is designed for mass production in millions of units. It carries a 2.3kWh battery pack, runs on a Tesla SoC, and contains Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity. The human-like hands with ‘Biologically Inspired Design’ will make them suitable for picking up objects of various shapes and sizes, holding a bag, and containing a precision grip on small parts.

The Nobel Prize for Physics 2022 is being shared by three scientists, Alain Aspect, John F Clauser and Anton Zeilinger, for their work on quantum mechanics.
The three scientists conducted a series of experiments on entangled quantum states, where two separate particles behave like a single unit. Their results will have implications in the fields of quantum computers, quantum networks and secure quantum encrypted communication.

Actor Pankaj Tripathi has been declared as the ‘National Icon’ of the Election Commission of India (ECI) for creating awareness amongst voters along with ECI.
In the 2017 film Newton, for which he won the National Award, he played a role of CRPF officer, who was tasked with conducting elections in the jungles of Chhattisgarh, faced by conficts.
