Nikhil Kamath, the cofounder of Zerodha, topped the ‘IIFL Wealth Hurun India 40 & Under Self-Made Rich List 2022’ with a net worth of Rs 17,500 crore.
Bhavish Aggarwal (Rs 11,700 crore), the founder of Ola, came in second place and Divyank Turakhia (Rs 11,200 crore) of Media.net in third place. Kaivalya Vohra, the 19-year-old co-founder of Zepto, instant Grocery app, is the youngest self-made entrepreneur, while Neha Narkhede, co-founder of Confluent, streaming data Tech Company, is the youngest self-made woman entrepreneur.

Notes:
Tokenization is the process of replacing original card details with an alternative code called a ‘token’. The token would be unique and it provides an additional degree of protection for customer card details.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 2019 allowed card networks to tokenize card transactions. The deadline for successful execution of tokenization of card-based payments was October 1.

Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), a body under the Department of Telecommunications, (Ministry of Communication) officially launched Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme.
The scheme aims to promote indigenous manufacturing and innovation in the sector. TTDF aims to fund research and development in rural-specific communication technology applications.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Odisha state government to sanction budgetary allocation of Rs 4967 lakh towards rejuvenation of Sukapaika Drainage Channel project by March 2023.
The NGT directed to rejuvenate the dead river, to mitigate the drinking water crisis of at least three blocks of Cuttack district.

October 1 is observed as the International Day of Older Persons across the world every year. It was introduced by the United Nations General Assembly with an aim of honouring the contribution of older persons and focussing on the problems they face.
This year, the theme for the International Day of Older Persons is ‘Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World’.

Every year, on 2 October, the International Day of Non-Violence is observed across the world. This special day marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The main objective of this day is to spread awareness about the idea of non-violence. In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed the resolution to commemorate the International Day of Non-Violence. This year, the UN has selected the slogan of ‘Say No to Violence’.

According to Sample Registration System Statistical Report 2020, Chhattisgarh had the highest gap in 2020, with a male infant mortality rate of 35 compared to female infant mortality rate of 41.
The male and female infant mortality rate (IMR) equalised in 2020 in India. Infant mortality rate is the number of infant deaths for every 1,000 live births. In rural India, female IMR remained marginally higher than male IMR though the gap had reduced. In urban India, the female IMR fell below that of males by 2020.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been jointly awarded to Carolyn Bertozzi, Morton Meldal and Barry Sharpless for their work on snipping molecules together.
Also known as ‘Click chemistry’, it is related to the process of linking together molecules like those in living cells. Their work is used to explore cells, track biological processes and can be applied in cancer treatment drugs.

The Russian cosmonaut rocketed to the International Space Station alongside NASA and Japanese astronauts despite tensions over the war in Ukraine.

As per the recent report of blockchain researcher Chainalysis, the Middle East and North Africa are the world’s fastest-growing cryptocurrency markets.
While the MENA region is one of the smallest crypto markets, it has grown rapidly to USD 566 billion between July 2021 and June 2022. The volume of crypto received in the region jumped 48% in the year to June.
