A discussion document titled ‘India’s Path to Power: Strategy in a World Adrift’ was released by Delhi-based Centre for Policy Research. The policymakers include former NSA Shivshankar Menon.
As per the paper, India should maintain an outward orientation of its economy and avoid being pushed to the margins of regional and global economy, to enhance its growth prospects and improve people’s welfare. They recommended that India should further strengthen its partnership with the United States, Japan and Europe.

The Chief Justice of India (CJI), is also the Patron-in-chief of the National Legal Services Authority.
Recently, the six-week-long ‘The Pan India Legal Awareness and Outreach Campaign’ by NALSA was launched at Vigyan Bhavan. It was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.

Piramal Capital & Housing Finance Limited, a subsidiary of Piramal Enterprises has reverse merged itself with the debt-ridden Dewan Housing Finance Limited (DHFL) after paying a sum of Rs.34,250cr to the creditors of DHFL.
The process was fully completed on 30th September 2021, as per the resolution plan under the Insolvency Bankruptcy Code (IBC).

2021 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine has been announced to two joint winners, David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian.
The award has been given for their discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch that gives the ability to sense heat, cold and touch needed for survival. David Julius is a professor with the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Ardem Patapoutian is an immigrant, is a Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

FC Goa claimed their maiden Durand Cup football tournament title after a 1-0 win over Mohammedan SC in the fnal clash in Kolkata.
Captain Eduardo Bedia scored the important goal in the 105th minute after the final match went into the extra time. The Durand Cup also marked FC Goa coach Juan Ferrando Fenoll’s first-ever trophy in India.

Notes:
A framed iron bridge named “Ponte di Ferro” also known as “Ponte dell’ Industria” located in Rome, Italy has been completely damaged by a fire. The bridge collapsed and plunged into the River Tiber.
This bridge was opened in 1863 and connects the densely populated Ostiense and Portuense regions. This is one of the very few iron bridges in the city as most of the others are made of stone.

The fifth edition of the India-Japan Maritime Bilateral Exercise (JIMEX) between the Indian Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), is set to be held in the Arabian Sea from October 6 to 8.
JIMEX series of exercises was started in January 2012 with special focus on maritime security cooperation. The most recent edition of JIMEX was conducted in September 2020. Indian Navy will be represented by Indigenously-built Guided Missile Stealth Destroyer Kochi and Guided Missile Frigate Teg.

A Business Summit on National Mission on Edible Oil – Oil Palm for North East was held recently at Guwahati, which was presided over by Narendra Singh Tomar – the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The National Mission on Edible Oil – Oil Palm is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme which aims to add 6.5 lakh hectares for palm oil by 2025-26.

Jim Corbett National Park is a world-renowned tiger reserve in Uttarakhand. It was seen in the news recently, Union Minister of State for Forest and Environment Ashwini Kumar Choubey announced that it may be renamed as Ramganga National Park in the future.
It is India’s first national park which is spread over an area of about 521 km. It’s known for its Bengal tigers, leopards and wild elephants.

The two-day Online Meeting of Range countries began to strengthen the conservation actions for migratory birds and their habitats in the Central Asian Flyway.
Central Asian Flyway (CAF) covers a large area of Eurasia between the Arctic and Indian Oceans. This area comprises several important migration routes of birds. There are 30 countries under the Central Asian Flyway, including India. India organised two-day online meeting on 6th -7th October 2021 with CAF Range Countries.
