Russia recently announced that it had successfully test launched a Tsirkon (Zircon) hypersonic cruise missile from a submarine for the first time.
The country’s Defence Ministry said that the Severodvinsk submarine had fired the missile in the Barents Sea, successfully hitting its target. Russia had earlier tested firing the Tsirkon missile from a warship in July

The ‘World Animal Day’ is observed every year on October 4, the feast day of Francis of Assisi, who is regarded as the patron saint of animals.
The day was celebrated for the first time in the year 1925 by cynologist Heinrich Zimmermann to address the plight of animals and begin work towards their protection — both in the wild and domestic world. World Animal Day was started globally during a world protection organisation conference in Florence, Italy in 1931.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has recently inaugurated the Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre in the state of Assam.
150 years ago, the iconic Bungalow of Guwahati was constructed to serve as the residence of the British Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup. This heritage centre is located atop Barphukanar Tilla, a small hill named after the Ahom general Lachit Barphukan.

Every year, First Monday of October is observed by the United Nations as “World Habitat Day”, to stress on the basic right of all to adequate shelter and to highlight the state of our habitats. This year, it was observed on October 4.
The theme for this year’s World Habitat Day is “Accelerating urban action for a carbon-free world”.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recently approved the administration of third booster shots of the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine to people of European Union, who are above the age of 18 years.
The test data by EMA has shown that, injecting the third booster shot in a span of 6 month after the second dose raises the antibody levels.

The Interpol has launched a cyber security campaign – “Keeping cybercriminals out: #JustOneClick” from October 4 to 22, which will be organized mainly in social media.
The aim of this campaign is to create awareness about cyber threats and help people to protect their computer systems, networks and personal information from cyber criminals

Jim Corbett National Park is a world-renowned tiger reserve in Uttarakhand. It was seen in the news recently, Union Minister of State for Forest and Environment Ashwini Kumar Choubey announced that it may be renamed as Ramganga National Park in the future.
It is India’s first national park which is spread over an area of about 521 km. It’s known for its Bengal tigers, leopards and wild elephants.

Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) is implemented by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers.
All the districts of the country have been covered under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP). It aims to provide quality medicines at an affordable rate to the common man especially the poor. A target was set to increase the number of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) to 10,000 by March 2024. As of 5 October, 2021, the number of stores has increased to 8,355.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended the use of the first-ever malaria vaccine for children.
The WHO panel approved the RTS,S/AS01 malaria or Mosquirix – a vaccine developed by the British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). As per WHO, Malaria kills about 500,000 people each year, about half of them are the children in Africa. Mosquirix is given in three doses between ages 5 and 17 months, and a fourth dose roughly 18 months later.

The US-India Business Council (USIBC) summit was held recently in New Delhi. India and the United States of America held bilateral talks during the visit of Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R Sherman to Delhi.
They also discussed India-US “2+2” ministeral meeting which is likely to be held in November. The officials also discussed on S-400 air-defence system that India is buying from Russia.
