Notes:
The Tropical Cyclone Shaheen has hit the coast of Oman and has caused human and material damage in the region. This cyclone is an offspring of the cyclone Gulab which had a devastating impact on the east coast of India in late September 2021.
The remnant of cyclone Gulab along with the low-pressure region over Gujarat had gained strength to form the new cyclone Shaheen.

Notes:
‘Credit Guarantee Scheme for Subordinate Debt’ was launched on 24th June, 2020 to provide credit facility to the promoters of stressed MSMEs, through lending institutions. SMA-2 and NPA accounts who are eligible for restructuring as per RBI guidelines are the beneficiaries.
The Government had earlier decided to extend this scheme for six months from 31.03.2021 to 30.09.2021. Now it has been further extended till 31.03.2022.

The Pandora Papers, which is in the news recently are documents on hidden wealth, tax avoidance and money laundering by famous personalities across the globe. The data in this regard has been obtained by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and more than 140 media organisations are working on the people who are involved in money laundering.
These documents reveal the complex network of companies set up across the globe to evade taxation.

ICMR’s initiative for ‘drone-based vaccine delivery system’ in North-Eastern India was launched recently. A “Made in India” drone was deployed in Manipur to transport Covid-19 vaccines for an aerial distance of 15 km from Bishnupur district hospital to the Loktak lake, Karang island.
This is the first time a Made in India drone was deployed for vaccine transportation. This makes India the first nation in Southeast Asia to send vaccines in an unmanned aerial craft.

A Business Summit on National Mission on Edible Oil – Oil Palm for North East was held recently at Guwahati, which was presided over by Narendra Singh Tomar – the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The National Mission on Edible Oil – Oil Palm is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme which aims to add 6.5 lakh hectares for palm oil by 2025-26.

The Nobel Prize for Chemistry 2021 has been awarded to Benjamin List and David WC MacMillan. They were cited for developing a new way for building molecules known as “Asymmetric organocatalysis.”
As per the Nobel panel, List and MacMillan independently developed a new way of catalysis. Last year, the prize went to Emmanuelle Charpentier of France and Jennifer A. Doudna of the United States for developing a gene-editing tool which provided a way to alter DNA.

The High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People (HAC) is an intergovernmental group, co-chaired by France and Costa Rica. Its objective is to support the adoption of a target to protect 30% of the planet’s land and 30% of its oceans by 2030 (30×30 target).
The Coalition was officially launched at the One Planet Summit in 2021. It currently has around 70 members. India officially joined the coalition at a ceremony held between the French and Indian governments in New Delhi.

Vallilath Madhathil Madhavan Nair, the oldest living former diplomat of India, passed away at the age of 102.
He joined the Indian Civil Service or the ICS in 1942 and was allotted to the Bihar Cadre. He was permanently recruited to the Indian Foreign Service later. He had served in various important positions in the External Affairs Department and in charge of Commonwealth Relations. He retired from the IFS in the late 1970s.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development has issued the detailed guidelines for PM CARES for Children Scheme.
The aim of the scheme is to ensure protection of children who have lost their parent(s) to COVID pandemic. The scheme is expected to continue till the year when every identified beneficiary shall turn 23 years of age.

World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9th of October to mark the anniversary of establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874.
India has been a member of the Universal Postal Union since 1876. The theme for this year’s World Post Day is ‘Innovate to recover’. The objective of the World Post Day is to create awareness about the role of postal sector in the lives of people.
