Notes:
The Odisha government has provided ₹445.75 crore to distribution companies (DISCOMs) to increase the ground clearance of electrical networks. The DISCOMs would replace bare conductors in elephant corridors.
According to the Wildlife Society of Orissa (WSO), 862 elephants have lost their lives between April 2010 August 2021. It also highlights that as many as 135, or nearly 16% of those elephants died due to electrocution.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh felicitated the winners of ‘Dare to Dream 2.0’ Contest of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO). He also launched ‘Dare to Dream 3.0’ to promote innovators & startups.
Dare to Dream is DRDO’s nation-wide contest to promote Indian academicians, individuals and start-ups to develop defence and aerospace technologies. DRDO provides support to the winners under Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme. DRDO Young Scientists awards for the year 2019 were also presented to 16 DRDO scientists.

The fifth edition of the India-Japan Maritime Bilateral Exercise (JIMEX) between the Indian Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), is set to be held in the Arabian Sea from October 6 to 8.
JIMEX series of exercises was started in January 2012 with special focus on maritime security cooperation. The most recent edition of JIMEX was conducted in September 2020. Indian Navy will be represented by Indigenously-built Guided Missile Stealth Destroyer Kochi and Guided Missile Frigate Teg.

The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved the proposal to provide government land in exchange for the private land being acquired for Atal Pragati Path.
It is a 313-km four-lane expressway project implemented under the Bharatmala project. The proposed Atal Pragati Path will pass through Sheopur, Morena and Bhind districts of Madhya Pradesh. The state government is providing land free for the project.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a famed memorial in Arlington National Cemetery – USA, has been constructed to pay tribute to the unidentified service members who died in U.S. conflicts.
The place has been in news recently, since for the first time in 84 years the monument has an all-female guard, which is seen as a milestone in the USA.

The US-India Business Council (USIBC) summit was held recently in New Delhi. India and the United States of America held bilateral talks during the visit of Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R Sherman to Delhi.
They also discussed India-US “2+2” ministeral meeting which is likely to be held in November. The officials also discussed on S-400 air-defence system that India is buying from Russia.

India is set to assume the G20 Presidency in 2023. New Delhi-based Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations ICRIER’s 13th Annual International G20 Conference was held recently.
It was attended by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Emerging market economies will hold the G20 presidency till 2025, with Indonesia in 2022 and India in 2023.

The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has delivered the heaviest semi-cryogenic propellant tank (SC120- LOX) ever fabricated to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
The tank will be used in the Mk-III launch vehicle for future missions. The semi-cryo-liquid oxygen (LOX) tank is to be used in the existing Mk-III launch vehicle. HAL had delivered the biggest ever cryogenic Liquid Hydrogen tank (C32-LH2), last year.

The Tata Sons has emerged as the winner in the bid to acquire Air India and will take over 100% Government of India’s stake in the carrier.
Tata sons placed a bid of Rs 18,000 crore, of which Rs 2,700 crore would be paid in cash and the remaining would be absorbed over Rs 60,000 crore debt of the airline. The Government of India in 1953 took control of Air India from the Tata Group.

Notes:
The Indian Railway has launched two long haul freight trains named “Trishul” and “Garuda”, which are multiple times longer than the normal trains.
The Train named “Trishul” is run by the South-Central Railway (SCR) and comprises of 177 wagons. It ran between the Kondapalli station to Khurda division of East Coast Railway.
