Notes:
The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) showed overall unemployment for 15+ years stayed at 5.2% in October 2025. Urban unemployment rose to a three-month high of 7%, while rural unemployment dipped from 4.6% to 4.4%. Female unemployment fell slightly to 5.4%, driven by a rural decline from 4.3% to 4%. Male unemployment stayed stable at 5.1%, with rural dip offset by urban rise to 6.1%. Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) reached a six-month high of 55.4%, rising from 54.2% in June. Female workforce participation (LFPR 34.2%) and rural worker growth drove the increase in Worker Population Ratio (WPR 52.5%).

The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry recently launched the Trade Intelligence and Analytics (TIA) Portal in New Delhi to strengthen data-driven trade decisions. It is a one-stop platform developed by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, that integrates multiple global and national trade databases. The portal offers 270+ interactive visualisations across 28 dashboards with real-time insights on India’s trade, global markets, commodities and sectors. The portal improves accessibility and usability of all trade data in one place.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation launched the National Industrial Classification (NIC) 2025 during the 75th anniversary of the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) in Udaipur. NIC-2025 is a new six-digit system replacing the five-digit NIC-2008 to classify all economic activities in India. It updates earlier versions from 1962 to reflect India’s changing economy and aligns with the United Nations International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) Revision-5. It adds new sectors like cloud services, blockchain, renewable energy, waste management, platform services, and AYUSH. It also includes new classes for logistics, real estate, food services, and environmental remediation.

World AMR Awareness Week (World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week) is observed every year from 18–24 November to raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance. The week highlights that misuse and overuse of antimicrobials make microbes resistant, causing drug-resistant infections that are harder to treat. It promotes the One Health approach, which links human, animal, and environmental health to tackle resistance together. It is a global initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO). The 2025 theme is “Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future,” urging immediate action to safeguard medicines for today and future generations.

Curacao has created history by qualifying for the 2026 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup, becoming the smallest nation ever to reach the tournament with a population of about 1.56 lakh. Curacao is an island country in the southern Caribbean Sea, located 60 km north of Venezuela, and is a territorial country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It consists of the islands of Curacao and Klein Curacao, spread over 171 square miles with its capital at Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Curacao follows a constitutional monarchy with the Dutch monarch as head of state and a prime minister as head of government.

Scientists have discovered a new owlfly species in Kerala after 134 years, named Protidricerus albocapitatus, marking a major entomological finding. It was found in the Nedumkayam forest in the Malappuram district of Kerala. The species belongs to the family Myrmeleontidae and the order Neuroptera. With this discovery, Kerala now has five known owlfly species, and India’s total has increased to 37 species. The owlfly has a white tufted head and clubbed antennae, making it easily identifiable.

India concluded their debut campaign at the World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh with 9 gold medals. Indian women boxers won 7 golds: Jaismine Lamboria (57 kg), Nikhat Zareen (51 kg), Parveen Hooda (60 kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70 kg), Preeti Pawar (54 kg), Minakshi Hooda (48 kg), Nupur Sheoran (80+ kg). Indian men boxers won 2 golds: Sachin Siwach (60 kg) and Hitesh Gulia (70 kg). Indian men also won 4 silver medals: Ankush Panghal (80 kg), Abhinash Jamwal (65 kg), Pawan Bartwal (55 kg), Jadumani Singh (50 kg). This marks a historic performance for India in international boxing.

Recently, a large mock drill named “Vishanu Sankraman Pratirodh Abhyas” was held in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh under the National One Health Mission (NOHM) in November, 2025. The drill tested India’s pandemic preparedness and intersectoral coordination against zoonotic disease outbreaks. It simulated an outbreak of Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic Fever affecting both humans and animals to assess investigation, pathogen identification and containment in real time. The exercise was led by the National Joint Outbreak Response Team (NJORT) with experts from human health, veterinary and wildlife sectors.

In Badminton, Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen won the Australian Open 2025 men’s singles title in Sydney, marking his first title of the year. He defeated 26th-ranked Japanese player Yushi Tanaka 21-15, 21-11 in the final. Lakshya is a 2021 World Championships bronze medallist, showcasing his high-level consistency. His last title was a Super 300 in Lucknow in 2024, and a top-tier title had eluded him since the Canada Open 2024. He earlier came close at the Hong Kong Super 500 in September 2025, finishing runner-up before securing this major win.

Jharkhand government launched its annual public-service outreach campaign “Aapki Yojana – Aapki Sarkar – Aapke Dwar” through district-level camps. The first week theme is “Right to Service Week”, and this year’s campaign will run with sector-wise focus. Objective is doorstep governance, with government departments setting up camps at panchayat and block levels for on-spot services. Citizens can apply for Aadhaar-linked benefits, pension schemes, job cards, Ayushman Bharat cards and tribal welfare entitlements. Camps also support enrolment under state schemes like Abua Awas Yojana and Savitri Bai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana.
