The WHO released the Global Antibiotic Resistance Surveillance Report 2025 (GLASS), highlighting that Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in India remains one of the highest globally. The report revealed that one in three bacterial infections in India in 2023 was resistant to common antibiotics, far above the global average of one in six. Experts observed that India’s surveillance data—mainly from tertiary hospitals—overestimates national resistance levels, as primary and secondary care settings are underrepresented. The WHO urged India to expand nationwide surveillance and strengthen antibiotic stewardship. The report acknowledged India’s initiatives, including the National Programme on AMR Containment and Kerala’s AMRITH, which reduced over-the-counter antibiotic sales and showed early declines in AMR.

Recently, India’s electronics sector gained momentum through the Electronics Development Fund (EDF) launched on 15 February 2016. EDF promotes innovation in electronics, nano-electronics, and Information Technology (IT). It works as a Fund of Funds, investing in Daughter Funds like angel and venture funds that support technology startups. Electronics Development Fund’s (EDF’s) anchor investor is Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

The e-Jagriti Platform has recently crossed two lakh users since its launch on 1 January 2025. e-Jagriti is a flagship initiative of the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. It strengthens India’s consumer dispute redressal system through full digital access. It offers multilingual support and accessibility tools for inclusivity. It provides AI-powered smart search for complaints, cases and judgments. It allows NRIs and citizens to file and monitor cases from anywhere with secure access. It ensures simple, fast and cost-effective consumer dispute resolution online.

The eighth India-UK Joint Military Exercise AJEYA WARRIOR-25 began recently at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges, Rajasthan. Exercise Ajeya Warrior is a joint military exercise between India and the United Kingdom. It is a 14-day exercise held from 17 to 30 November 2025. A total of 240 personnel are participating, with equal representation from the Indian Army and the British Army. Indian troops are from the Sikh Regiment. The exercise is conducted under a United Nations (UN) mandate focusing on counter-terrorism in semi-urban areas.

In November 2025, Union Minister J P Nadda, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), inaugurated AMRIT Pharmacy’s 10th Anniversary at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment) program was launched in 2015 by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to provide affordable medicines and implants for cancer and cardiac patients. The first AMRIT outlet opened on 15 November 2015 at AIIMS, New Delhi. MoHFW inaugurated 10 new AMRIT outlets across India to enhance access to essential medicines. The program is implemented by HLL Lifecare Limited through retail pharmacies in government hospitals.

In November 2025, Dinesh Bhatia, Ambassador of India to Brazil, inaugurated the 3rd International Ayurveda Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The conference was jointly organized by Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) and Conayur Sao Paulo (Conselho Nacional de Ayurveda). The conference was held from 14–15 November 2025. It marked 40 years of Ayurveda practice in Brazil. Brazil is the first South American country to officially recognize Ayurveda. The 2025 theme was “Diversity and Inclusion in Ayurveda: Caring for Everybody and Every Being”. The event was held under the patronage of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Day is observed annually on the third Wednesday of November to raise awareness about Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). This year, it is observed on November 19, 2025, with the theme “Short of Breath, Think COPD” to encourage early diagnosis, public education, and better management of the progressive respiratory disease. The day is organized by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) in collaboration with healthcare professionals and patient groups to highlight that COPD is a preventable and treatable condition.

Scientists recently spotted the rare ginkgo-toothed beaked whales (Mesoplodon ginkgodens) for the first time in the wild near Baja California, Mexico. This species is one of 24 beaked whale species, the second most diverse cetacean group after dolphins. It lives in tropical and temperate waters of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It has a robust body, small pointed flippers and two unique ginkgo-shaped teeth on the lower jaw. These whales are the deepest-diving mammals, surfacing only briefly and staying far from coastlines.

The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)–Larsen & Toubro (L&T) consortium has indigenously built India’s first private Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). The PSLV is scheduled to launch the Oceansat satellite early next year. India’s Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) signed a 2022 contract with the HAL–L&T consortium for end-to-end production of five PSLV-XL rockets. This move shifts PSLV manufacturing from ISRO to industry partners while ISRO focuses on new missions and research. The consortium has faced production challenges, resolved with ISRO’s support. HAL also received technology for the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) to fully own and operate its production.

Indian Navy unveiled the crest of INS Mahe, the first Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Shallow Water Craft. The crest features the Urumi sword from Kerala’s martial art, symbolizing stealth, precision, and lethality. Rising waves on the crest represent India’s maritime vigilance. Named after the historic town of Mahe, the ship’s motto is “Silent Hunters”. It reflects the ship’s anti-submarine warfare role in shallow and coastal waters. The unveiling highlights India’s naval indigenisation and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
