Recently, it was announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on 19 November. He will address the South India Natural Farming Summit, which will be hosted by the Farmers’ Associations in Tamil Nadu. The summit will also bring together 50 scientists specialising in organic agriculture. It aims to frame policies to expand natural farming across southern states. The summit seeks to build a people-driven movement for economically viable and socially inclusive agriculture. It will feature 300 exhibition stalls, live demonstrations, policy discussions and youth–women engagement. It is supported by national initiatives like Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhati and Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana.

India mourns Padma Shri awardee Saalumarada Thimmakka, a globally respected environmentalist known for grassroots afforestation. She was born in Gubbi taluk, Tumakuru district, and later lived in Hulikal. Her life was marked by poverty and personal struggles, but she turned grief into environmental service. Starting in the 1950s, she and her husband Bikkala Chikkayya walked miles daily to water saplings and protected them using thorny branches. They planted mainly during monsoons, creating a green corridor that offers shade, supports birds and stabilises the local climate. Her work shaped Karnataka’s afforestation policies and inspired tree-planting movements across India.

On November 17, 2025, Karnataka’s Department of Electronics, IT & BT, with KEONICS, launched KEO, a compact, affordable and AI-ready personal computer designed entirely in Karnataka. KEO stands for Knowledge-driven, Economical, Open-source, built on an open-source RISC-V processor with a Linux-based OS. It features an on-device AI core that works without internet and includes BUDDH, an AI agent trained on the Karnataka DSERT syllabus to help students in low-connectivity areas. KEO will be deployed across schools, universities, businesses, homes and government offices, supporting locally adaptable, home-grown computing.

Udupi Police recently filed a case against eight people for entering the restricted Dariya Bahadur Island, highlighting its protected status. The island, also called Bhadragada Island or Lighthouse Island, lies near Malpe Beach in Udupi district, Karnataka. It is a small rocky island with a breadth of about 1.6 sq km and an area of less than 250 yards. It is known for its scenic buildings and the historic Daira Bahadurgarh Fort built by Basavappa Naik of Bidanur.

The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development 2024 was awarded to Michelle Bachelet, the first and only woman President of Chile and former UN (United Nations) High Commissioner for Human Rights. Bachelet served two presidential terms in Chile (2006–2010, 2014–2018) and led major education, tax, human rights, and gender equality reforms. It is awarded annually to any person or organisation regardless of nationality, race, or religion. It honours efforts promoting international peace, disarmament, racial equality, goodwill, and harmony. It recognises work supporting global economic cooperation and a new international economic order.

The United States has officially designated Saudi Arabia as a Major Non-NATO Ally (MNNA) after the meeting between Donald Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Major Non-NATO Ally (MNNA) is a special strategic status that gives defence partners military, financial and technological benefits but does not provide NATO-style security guarantees. The MNNA category was created under U.S. law in the 1980s to expand America’s alliance network beyond NATO countries. The main aim of MNNA status is to boost defence cooperation, access to advanced weapons, joint military training and security coordination. The move strengthens U.S. strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia, especially given the region’s geopolitical importance.

World Television Day is observed every year on 21 November, based on a 1996 United Nations General Assembly Resolution. The day recognises television as a vital medium for informing, educating, shaping public opinion and promoting global understanding. In India, the observance is led by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) along with Prasar Bharati, the national public broadcaster. Doordarshan and All India Radio conduct special programmes to highlight television’s role in public service communication and national integration. India has over 230 million television households reaching nearly 900 million viewers, showing TV’s massive influence in awareness creation and participatory governance.

The fourth edition of the Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation Seminar Swavlamban 2025 will begin on 26th November in New Delhi. The event will focus on the Indian Navy’s innovation and indigenisation efforts to meet evolving national security needs. Emerging and disruptive technologies will be the core highlight of the seminar. The seminar aims to unite innovators, industry, academia, MSMEs and start-ups to strengthen naval capabilities

The 2nd edition of Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav was inaugurated by President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Nilayam, Secunderabad on 21 November 2025. The nine-day festival is organised by Rashtrapati Nilayam in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Tourism. The festival showcases the rich cultural heritage of Western India, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu.

Omar El Akkad won the Nonfiction prize for “One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This”. Patricia Smith won the Poetry award for “The Intentions of Thunder: New and Selected Poems”. Daniel Nayeri won for Young People’s Literature with “The Teacher of Nomad Land: A World War II Story”. Gabriela Cabezón Cámara was recognised in Translated Literature for “We Are Green and Trembling”, translated by Robin Myers. The 76th National Book Awards ceremony took place at Cipriani Wall Street, Manhattan, hosted by Jeff Heller with musical performance by Corinne Rae Bailey.
