Recently, a farmer was killed in a tiger attack near Nugu Wildlife Sanctuary in Mysuru, Karnataka. Nugu Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Mysuru district, Karnataka. It covers about 30 sq.km and includes the Nugu Reservoir in its northern part. Nugu Dam is built across the Nugu River, a tributary of the Cauvery River.

In November 2025, Gujarat announced 2025 as “Tribal Pride Year” to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to promote tribal heritage through Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas and sustainable development. Gujarat became India’s first state to launch a large-scale genome sequencing project focused on tribal communities. Led by Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC) under the Genome India initiative, it studies genetic disorders caused by limited diversity and endogamy. It targets diseases like sickle cell anaemia, thalassemia, and G6PD deficiency through early diagnosis and precision medicine.

The Assam Cabinet approved ‘The Assam Prohibition of Polygamy Bill, 2025’ to ban the practice of polygamy in the state. The Bill prohibits marriage if a person already has a living spouse, is not legally separated, or divorce is not finalized. Exceptions may apply to areas under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. It will be tabled in the Assembly on November 25, 2025 for passage. A special fund will be created to support women victims of polygamy.

The 6th edition of India-Vietnam Army Exercise VINBAX began in Hanoi. Exercise VINBAX is a bilateral military exercise between India and Vietnam. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability between the two armies. It focuses on sharing best practices in United Nations (UN) peacekeeping operations. The 6th edition strengthens defence cooperation and promotes closer military collaboration between India and Vietnam

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Exporters (CGSE). The scheme provides 100% credit guarantee coverage by National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company Limited (NCGTC) to Member Lending Institutions (MLIs). CGSE enables MLIs to extend additional credit facilities up to Rs.20,000 crore to eligible exporters, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The Department of Financial Services (DFS) will implement the scheme through NCGTC. A Management Committee under the Secretary, DFS will oversee progress and implementation. The scheme strengthens liquidity, ensures smooth operations, and provides collateral-free credit to exporters.

Kerala has once again emerged as a Top Achiever in the national Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) ratings for 2024. The ratings were released under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Kerala topped the “Fast Movers” category with a 99.1% reform implementation score, up from 91% last year. The recognition was announced at Udyog Samagam 2025 in New Delhi.

The Chief of the Air Staff recently inaugurated the Mudh-Nyoma airbase in Ladakh by landing a C-130J aircraft there. Mudh-Nyoma is an Indian Air Force (IAF) base in southeastern Ladakh at 13,700 feet. It is just 23 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. It is now the fourth IAF base in Ladakh, India’s highest airfield, and the world’s fifth highest. It lies near the southern bank of Pangong Tso and earlier had a mud landing strip. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) began upgrading it in September 2023.

Odisha will host the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS) 2025 in Puri from December 5 to 7, 2025. The summit supports Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s vision of sustainability, cooperative federalism, and Net Zero 2070. Energy ministers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Bhutan will join global experts and think-tanks. The event is organised with the Tony Blair Institute (TBI) and Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K). The theme is “Powering India: Sufficiency, Balance, Innovation.”

Indonesia’s Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted on 13 November 2025, sending volcanic ash 10 km (6.2 miles) into the sky. The Geological Agency of Indonesia raised the alert system to its highest level following the eruption. It is located on Flores Island in East Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. It is part of a twin-volcano system, with Lewotobi Laki-Laki (male) and Lewotobi Perempuan (female). These are stratovolcanoes, formed by repeated lava layers. Indonesia frequently experiences volcanic eruptions as it lies on the Pacific ‘Ring of Fire,’ where tectonic activity causes earthquakes and tsunamis

Telangana approved the draft Gig Workers’ Act 2025, giving platform workers legal identity and a unique ID for the first time in India. It mandates platforms to explain algorithm impacts on jobs, incentives, and ratings in a language workers understand. A 20-member Social Security Board will oversee welfare, registration, and data sharing. A welfare fund will be created from a 1–2% welfare fee, govt grants, CSR, and donations. Workers will get minimum wages, notice periods, safety rights, and grievance redressal. A digital welfare fee verification system will track payments, with strict penalties for non-compliance.
