Union Budget announced the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate (MSSC), a new small-savings scheme for women and was launched for investments from April 1, 2023. The interest rate on deposits made under this Program is 7.5% per year.

The World Health Organization (WHO) launched the Preparedness and Resilience for Emerging Threats (PRET) Initiative.
This initiative will ensure better preparedness against future outbreaks like the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative was announced at the Global Meeting for Future Respiratory Pathogen Pandemics held in Geneva.

The IFRS 17 is an international financial reporting standard that was issued by the International Accounting Standards Board in 2017. It has become effective on January 1, 2023.
It will replace IFRS 4 on accounting for insurance contracts. The earlier application permitted as long as IFRS 9 is also applied.

The Indian Government is mulling the creation of a unified airport security similar to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The Telangana State Secretariat, the brain child of Chief Minister has been inaugurated on April 30. It was constructed at a cost of around Rs.600 crore.
Named after B.R. Ambedkar, the secretariat is spread over 28 acres and, rising 265 feet high, is taller than the Qutab Minar in Delhi, Taj Mahal in Agra and the iconic Charminar in Hyderabad.

Bihan Mela is an annual festival celebrated by the Kondh tribe in Odisha’s Nayagarh district. Literally known as seed festival, it has been celebrated since 2019.
The event is participated by farmers from as many as 40 villages in Dasapalla region, surrounded by hills and forests.

The Odisha government recently began the survey of people from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) belonging to 210 castes in the State to determine their social and educational status.
As per the State SC, ST and Backward Class Ministry, the survey has an aim to get clear picture about status of Socially and Educationally Backward Classes.
