Recently, Uttarakhand launched the country’s first yoga policy on International Yoga Day at Bhararisain in Gairsain, the summer capital of the state. The policy aims to establish Uttarakhand as a global capital for yoga and wellness. A grant of up to ₹10 lakh is also provided to promote research in yoga, meditation, and naturopathy. The state plans to set up five new yoga hubs by the year 2030. By March 2026, yoga services will be available at all AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) Health and Wellness Centres in Uttarakhand.

Recently, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) involved major public and private sector banks to develop the Digital Payment Intelligence Platform (DPIP) as a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). The Digital Payment Intelligence Platform (DPIP) is an initiative of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It aims to improve fraud risk management by allowing real-time sharing and collection of intelligence to stop fraudulent digital transactions. The Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) is building a prototype with 5–10 banks. DPIP will use advanced technologies to control payment-related frauds.

Recently, NITI Aayog released the third edition of its quarterly insights series, Future Front, titled India’s Data Imperative: The Pivot Towards Quality, in New Delhi. The report highlights the urgent need to improve data quality for stronger digital governance, better public trust, and efficient service delivery. It discusses the major issues caused by poor data quality and suggests simple and practical tools to improve it.

A rare albino “sunflower” squirrel was recently spotted in Tonk district, Rajasthan, creating excitement among wildlife lovers and researchers. It was seen at the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) campus in Tonk-Deoli, living in a neem tree. Albino squirrels are extremely rare, occurring in about one in 100,000 cases. Although such squirrels have been seen before in Banswara and Dungarpur, they remain very uncommon. Experts say albino traits are genetic, and the offspring may not inherit the condition.

Recently, Dwarka Expressway became the first road in India to be equipped with an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS). The project is being implemented by Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL). Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) is a set of smart technologies designed to improve traffic efficiency, safety, and reliability on roads.

Recently, the Indian literary world was shocked as the JCB Prize for Literature has been officially discontinued. The award, worth Rs 25 lakh for the best fiction work by an Indian author, ended with no future editions planned. It was established in 2018 by JCB India. The prize promoted Indian fiction and translations, awarding five out of seven winners for translated works in languages like Malayalam, Tamil, and Urdu. The JCB Prize, though short-lived, made a strong impact on regional literature and India’s literary ecosystem.

Recently, the Ministry of Minority Affairs held a one-day biometric authentication drive in Mumbai, Maharashtra, for beneficiaries of the Jiyo Parsi scheme. The Jiyo Parsi scheme was launched in 2013–14 by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Its main goal is to tackle the sharp decline in the population of the Parsi (Zoroastrian) community and support their long-term survival and cultural continuity.

Recently, the government upgraded the Sugamya Bharat App to improve accessibility support for Divyangjan, meaning persons with disabilities, and elderly citizens. The revamped app now has Artificial Intelligence-powered chatbot support to help users in real time. It also includes details about government schemes and resources for persons with disabilities. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched the app in 2021 to let people report accessibility problems in public places, transport, and digital systems. Since its launch, about three thousand complaints have been received, and around two thousand have been resolved, showing positive impact.

Recently, China’s former Vice Finance Minister Zou Jiayi was named as the next president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, known as AIIB, during its 10th Annual Meeting. Zou will take over from Jin Liqun, the founding president, starting her five-year term on January 16, 2026. The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is a multilateral development bank focused on sustainable infrastructure, and started in 2016. China is the largest shareholder with 26.54% voting shares, while India holds 7.58%, followed by Russia and Germany.

Recently, Kerala has secured the top spot in the Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE) of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest for 2020–2025. Kerala scored 76.22% in the very good category. Eravikulam National Park in Kerala and Dachigam National Park in Jammu and Kashmir topped protected areas with an MEE score of 92.97%. Mathikettan Shola National Park and Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary ranked fifth and sixth among the top 10. Chandigarh topped among Union Territories with 85.16%.
