Recently, the Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino (KATRIN) Experiment in Germany closely studied the disintegration of molecular tritium to estimate the mass of neutrinos. The KATRIN (Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino) experiment, located in Karlsruhe, Germany, aims to find the absolute mass of neutrinos, which are among the most mysterious particles in the universe. This experiment marks a major step in understanding fundamental particle physics and the structure of the universe.

Recently, the Full Bench of Lokpal of India adopted a new motto—“Empower Citizens, Expose Corruption.” Lokpal is a statutory anti-corruption authority established under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013. It addresses complaints related to corruption in public offices.

The Ministry of Ayush hosted the global summit ‘Yoga Connect’ on 14th June 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi as a key event before the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY). It was held in a hybrid format, with over 1,000 in-person participants and virtual attendees from top yoga institutions and wellness groups worldwide. The event was coordinated by the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), India’s main yoga research body.

Recently, Indian gymnast Pranati Nayak won her third bronze medal in the women’s vault at the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Jecheon, Korea, on 14 June 2025. The 30-year-old scored 13.666 and 12.866 in two attempts, totaling 13.466 to secure the bronze medal. She finished behind China’s Zhang Yihan (13.650) and Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu (13.583). Pranati had earlier won medals in 2019 and 2022. Another Indian gymnast, Protistha Samanta, finished fourth with a score of 13.016.

Recently, the Punjab government launched the Punjab Udyog Kranti initiative to simplify and speed up processes for setting up industries. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal announced 12 new reforms aimed at boosting industrial growth in Punjab. A key highlight is the deemed approval system, where all approvals must be given within 45 days, or else automatic approval will be generated via the Fast-track Punjab Portal. The portal acts as a single window for all clearances.

Traditional construction methods will be used to restore and preserve the Simhachalam Temple. The temple, also called Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, is located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It is dedicated to Narasimha, the man-lion avatar of Lord Vishnu. The temple shows a mix of Orissan and Chalukyan architectural styles. Unusually, it faces west instead of east, symbolising the victory of divine forces over evil.

India will celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 21, 2025, with Visakhapatnam as the national host city. Andhra Pradesh’s “Yogandhra” initiative aims to integrate yoga into daily life of over two crore people. One lakh IDY events will be held across the state, with five lakh participants expected in Visakhapatnam. The Ministry of Ayush praised Andhra Pradesh’s efforts as reflecting the IDY 2025 theme – “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched the DhartiAaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, the largest tribal empowerment campaign in India. The campaign covers 549 tribal-dominated and 207 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG)-dominated districts, reaching over 1,00,000 villages and habitations. It is a key initiative under Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, honouring tribal legacy and ensuring doorstep delivery of schemes. The Abhiyan is linked with PM-JANMAN and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA).

India is set to test its most advanced indigenously developed missile called the Extended Trajectory-Long Duration Hypersonic Cruise Missile (ET-LDHCM). It is indigenously developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under a program named Project Vishnu. It is a long-range missile that travels at hypersonic speeds, meaning it is over five times the speed of sound. It can be launched from land, sea, or air, giving India flexible strike capabilities.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently released the Telecommunication Tariff Order 2025 for retail broadband under the PM-WANI Scheme. PM-WANI stands for Prime Minister’s Wi-Fi Access Network Interface and was approved by the Union Cabinet on 9 December 2020. It aims to expand affordable broadband access through Public Wi-Fi networks across India, supporting the National Digital Communications Policy, 2018. As of now, there are 3,33,215 PM-WANI hotspots, 205 Public Data Office (PDO) Aggregators, and 111 App Providers in India.
